Type of contract: full time, regular Main responsibilities: - Ensure the day-to-day support and remote administration of Unix/Linux systems.
- Participate in standardisation and consolidation projects for Unix/Linux systems
- Participate in a shift rotation to ensure continuous cover and support for supported Unix/Linux systems
- Manage and resolve Remedy Tickets (Help Desk call handling software) pertaining to incidents, problems and requests on Unix/Linux systems
- Ensure all changes made on Unix/Linux systems are developed and implemented as per GSK policy and that the qualification status of supported components is maintained throughout the life cycle of the infrastructure.
- Ensure a high level of security, including confidentiality, availability and integrity of the managed systems and the data processed on those systems is maintained.
- Being ready to provide support by telephone, email or provide direct IT support to global GSK markets, GSK Help Desk and GSK Service Management according to the schedule defined by the employer.
- Establish, maintain and undertake training on technical standards, policies and procedures as required by employer
Basic qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience of System Administration of corporate Unix/Linux systems (Solaris, AIX, HP/UX, Red Hat Linux)
- Understand the provisioning and management of storage and backups/restores on Unix/Linux systems
- Knowledge of third-party software particularly Veritas (Symantec) products
- Understand more complex Unix/Linux technologies such as Sun Zoning
- Project documentation skills
- Command of the English language allowing fluent spoken and written communication.

Preferred qualifications:
- Understand more complex Unix/Linux technologies such as Clustering (Veritas Cluster Server preferred), Oracle Automatic storage Management (ASM), IBM Virtual I/O (VIO), Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC), IBM Logical Partition (LPAR), Veritas Volume Replicator (VVR), Veritas Operations Manager(VOM)
