    Analytics Developer (FCTM IT)

    We are looking for skilled individuals for the Global Technology Center to act as Analytics Developer in the Financial Threat Crime Mitigation (FTCM) IT department, part of the Financial Crime Risk (FCR) function.

    The Team:

    FCR brings together all areas of financial crime risk management at HSBC and is dedicated to implementing the most effective global standards to combat financial crime. FCTM, a sub-function of FCR, is an industry leading, global capability that’s able to identify emergent risk issues and financial crime proactively, quickly and effectively, preventing illicit actors accessing the global financial system.

    FCTM IT is using cutting edge Big Data technology to build tools that enable a global network of Investigators, Intelligence Analysts and Data Scientists to conduct effective intelligence-based investigations.

    The project:

    We are starting a large new programme to migrate on-premise FCR capabilities to GCP (Google Cloud). The team covers 20+ live IT Systems and includes +400 IT professionals.

    Key Accountabilities:

    We require experienced a Python Developer / Analyst to be part of the data analytics team delivering solution to the data scientist community.

    • Reviewing the business requirements submitted in JIRA,
    • Designing and implementing the changes,
    • Development of python solutions, machine learning algorithms, and spark tuning,
    • Following the team’s delivery methodology (unit testing, documentation, integration testing, package/deploy, release processes),
    • Providing support during release,
    • Providing production support (third line),
    • Taking ownership of deliverables and being responsible for their quality,
    • Working closely with software developers and the product owner,
    • Collaborating with central teams (architecture, security, engineering, networks). Ensure that FCR requirements are taken into account.

    We promote a DevOps culture so you will need to get involved with the deployment and operation of the software we build.

    Requirements:

    • 3+ years’ Python development experience, including Anaconda, Jupyter and Machine Learning algorithm
    • 2+ years’ development experience with Hive and Spark
    • Full working knowledge of libraries such as Pandas, NumPy and machine learning ones (e.g. scikit-learn and nltk)
    • Previous experience building REST APIs
    • Experience of BDD/TDD
    • Experience with Linux/Unix and familiarity with a shell script (i.e. BASH)
    • Agile methodologies – Scrum, Kanban, MVP

    Not required but desired:

    • Commercial Java development experience
    • Google Cloud development experience
    • Containerisation, Docker, Kubernetes
    • Previous experience using Git
    • Any previous administration experience with JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Nexus OSS/Pro.
    • SOLR (Hadoop), including schema design
    • General Hadoop skills, including HDFS, Flume, KNOX and Oozie
