About the project
We’re looking for a skilled Application Engineer who will strengthen our application team responsible for providing applications and services for internal ADVA use. As the application team we’re covering all aspects of running our applications like analysis, development, maintenance and internal user support.
The candidate’s main responsibility is to take the ownership of the EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools hosted in globally distributed ADVA sites and used by our FPGA and Hardware engineering communities. The tools are: Mentor, Synopsys, Xilinx, Intel, Lattice, Microchip, EMA, Ansys, Mathworks, and many other smaller tools.
The job is a mixture of a system analysis, system administration and technical support. Additionally, the candidate is also to oversee all Business Applications run by DevApps team on CentOS and RedHat operating systems (Agile PLM, Gerrit/Git, Polarion ALM, Subversion).

Your responsibilities
Working as an Application Engineer in the Application Development Team
Maintain EDA tools landscape as an application owner in cooperation with Hardware and FPGA engineering communities
Install EDA tools and confirm proper configuration at various sites
Ensuring all tools versions are up to date, all versions working and archived when possible.
Managing daily tools license usage in FlexNet Manager Suite and determine how better to use available License resources among ADVA sites around the Globe.
Remodel and adapt EDA applications as needed to optimize their performance and configuration.
Analyse and edit existing EDA application landscape to improve its functionality
Customize specialized applications according to engineering community needs
Collaborate with various engineering (R&D of Hardware and FPGA, R&D Software Production) and IT departments
Provide technical support to end users (internal engineering communities)
Supporting the team in technical analyses
Maintain other hosted internal business applications
Act as a technological expert advisor for maintaining ADVA business applications
Identifying and solving business applications performance and stability issues
Building monitoring strategy for ADVA business applications
Our requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in computer engineering, computer science, or related field
3 years of proven experience as an applications engineer
Professional level of English
Working knowledge of Linux
Linux command line and Bash Shell scripting
Ability to carry out technical research
Team-oriented attitude
Solution-oriented attitude
Troubleshooting & can-do attitude
Creative thinking
Willingness to work hard
Good sense of humour
Application administration experience is a plus
Knowledge of EDA tools is a plus
Zabbix experience is a plus
Knowledge of version-control tools (GIT/SVN) is a plus
