Your responsibilities

  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics

  • Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes

  • Analyse the data sources and provide solutions in terms of results, bring out the business interpretation of the results and explore better possibilities of coming with an alternate approach as per the requirement

  • Coordinate and compile comprehensive Wholesale Credit Risk data availability summaries to share with wider groups

  • Collate, test and check independently sourced data and assess its robustness and fitness for purpose

  • Automate the high volume processes supporting Group, Region and Site

  • Responsible for development and support of the tableau dashboards

  • Gather requirements from stakeholders with the Risk sub-functions

  • Use JIRA to capture requirements and track progress

  • Build SQL or Oracle queries to extract data from multiple sources to support dashboards and reporting

  • Design and create a back end data model that meets the needs of the user

  • Design and create front end visualisations taking account of best practice methods, usability and feasibility

  • Deliver ad-hoc testing for the dashboards and compile testing results, highlighting bugs/defects/changes that would need to be carried out in JIRA

  • Follow production release process communication and deployment

  • Prepare project related documentation during the different stages of the project as required

Our requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree IT or in numerate subject, e.g. mathematics/ statistics/ economics or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred

  • Strong technical knowledge with any of these ( SAS DI, Base SAS, SQL, Hadoop Big Data, Tableau, BI Tools, AWS Cloud etc.)

  • Preferable knowledge of banking Retail/wholesale credit risk

  • Proven ability to manage high volume data with embedded data quality procedures

  • Proven ability to produce clear summaries and reports from complex factual information, including both written documentation and graphical material

  • Preferably, familiarity with a balance sheet, set of accounts, bank stress testing including loss and risk estimation techniques is preferred

  • Excellent communication skills with technical (the team) and non-technical (senior entity management around the globe) counterparts; being able to "translate" between the two worlds is the major thing in the day to day work

  • Proven ability to produce clear summaries and reports from complex factual information, including both written documentation and graphical material

Job Description

Wholesale Credit and Market Risk (WMR) department within HBEU measures and monitors global credit and market risks arising from lending and trading activities as well as providing credit approval for corporates, financial institution and sovereign exposures. The team is engaged in a lot of European regulatory reporting (for ex. AnaCredit) and senior management reporting and analysis deliverables that are spread across EU countries on a need basis. The aim is to bring all these tasks together as one team and deliver them in a centralized and standardized manner.

The data provided by this team will form the basis of model development, model validation and IMR submission for WCR (Wholesale Credit Risk) senior management and to regulators. An extremely high standard of accuracy and timeliness will be required. Questions about the data for further material will need to be answered promptly. The incumbent will be expected to exercise initial quality assurance over the work of the team.

The Assistant Manager (Visualisation) will work across both the Risk & Finance businesses to gather requirements from stakeholders, design, build and implement a Tableau dashboard solution which will then be distributed back to the stakeholders. The role will work within the Global Risk & Finance Data Management Utility (DMU).
