    Assistant Vice President Business Support - Surveillance (English and French or German or Italian or Spanish)

    Role Purpose:

    The AVP Business support Surveillance leads Business Support Managers to deliver daily first or second level regulatory compliance surveillance and monitoring services based on a pre-defined program across the Firm's business divisions within EMEA and other locations where permissible. The role is based within the Global Service Centre (GSC), in support of the Markets Regulatory Compliance Conduct Surveillance & Analytics (CSA) team and as part of RC Operations.

    Principal Accountabilities:

    • Ensure self and team are cross trained across all surveillance processes to build a robust well trained experts that can support surveillance.
    • Lead by example, demonstrating core behaviours and values including teamwork, focus, drive and determination. Stay continuously engaged with the team to optimise their performance, improvement areas and manage attrition. Be a role model for high Regulatory Compliance standards across the teams.
    • Maintain positive working relationships with business line management, internal control and appropriate senior management stakeholders to support adherence to assigned regulation(s), regulatory requirements and/or compliance risks.
    • Foster a close relationship with Country and Regional Compliance teams, ensuring relevant global standards are upheld; timely reporting and effective management of performance level agreements
    • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, continually assessing operational risks inherent in the processes, taking account of changing operating procedures, staff movements, legal and regulatory requirements, management restructures, and the impact of new technology.
    • Ensuring roll-out of training programmes and continuous development initiatives, integrating new learnings as needed e.g. on new products and areas of monitoring such as Futures and Forex, SameTime, Reuters, social media monitoring.

    Requirements:

    • Strong leadership skills
    • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and proven rapid learning capability.
    • Ability to use technological resources available for surveillance activities.
    • Project Management certification / experience and working in a matrix structure (highly desirable)
    • Experience in Monitoring & Surveillance, Financial Markets or compliance related environment
    • Fluent English (at least one other European Language preferably)
    • Ability to work with varied / senior levels within the organization.
    • Ability to learn new processes quickly and build a team / knowledge within tight timelines.
    • Educated to degree level
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong ability to learn new technology
    • Appropriate analytical skill to dissect key information and have a good eye for detail
    • Ability to work under pressure and within tight time-lines. Excellent time management and prioritization of work tasks.
    • Ability to support decisions with sound reasoning.
