Your responsibilities
Conceptualize and build analytical solutions for complex data issues.
Ensure the timeliness, accuracy and reasonableness of results produced by the process
Acquire knowledge of the existing data ingestion processes and guide junior team members on BAU and Ad-hoc projects.
Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
Prepare effective material for dissemination to key business stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with IT & System owners, as well as quantitative analysts within Global Risk Analytics.
Our requirements
5+ year of relevant experience in similar job profile.
Bachelor’s degree IT or in numerate subject, e.g. mathematics/ statistics/ economics; Master’s degree preferred.
Preferable knowledge of banking, Retail/Wholesale credit risk
Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of programming tools, with proficiency and experience with any of these: SQL, SAS DI, Base SAS, Hadoop Big Data, Python
Proven ability to manage high volume data with embedded data quality procedures
Excellent communication skills with proven ability to produce clear summaries and reports from complex information, including both written documentation and graphical material
Good organizational, analytical, problem-solving and project management skills

About the role
Global Risk Analytics (GRA) is a part of HSBC’s Global Risk & Compliance Function which provides solutions using analytics, tools, and models to identify, measure and manage key risks. GRA currently covers Wholesale Credit and Market Risk, Financial Crime Risk, Regulatory Compliance and Operational Risk.
GRA is focused on model development, design, documentation and testing. We are responsible for the ongoing model monitoring, performance testing and maintenance of model inventory. Our scope also includes strategy, governance and processes for risk modelling. Our mission is to develop, manage and maintain models used by the relevant business groups and risk functions.
The Opportunity:
The role within Data Analytics team supports various analytical projects for the GRADE (Global Risk Analytics Data Environment) platform. We focus on development of an efficient, sustainable process to provide data required for wholesale credit risk model development and on-going validation across HSBC, covering but not limited to Probability of Default (PD), Loss Given Default (LGD), Exposure at Default (EAD) and Risk Weighted Assets (RWA). The team caters to both strategy and operations aspect of managing risk data through a combination of the following activities:
Data ingestions from numerous internal and external data sources
Data quality measurement, monitoring and visualisations
Wholesale Credit Risk peer benchmarking
GRADE Platform development & support and user on-boarding
We work closely with various teams across the globe on risk data BAU activities.
