Your responsibilities

  • Lead the definition of the Business Unit strategy, roadmap governance and innovation plan around automation in alignment with group standards and priorities

  • Support functionally automation engineer’s worldwide by working in strong collaboration with Engineering Managers to define their objectives and priorities based on the strategy and roadmap.

  • Ensure a governance is in place to monitor progress of the different key automation program ensuring the delivery of ROI and benefits agreed in time and quality

  • Provide expertise, challenge and support construction, design, preparation and implementation of automation/digitization projects to achieve expected savings

  • Drive major automation activities of the road map in collaboration with key stakeholders from Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Lean, IT and any other relevant function

  • Develop and own the BU Automation methodology to ensure structured approach is followed (lean studies, right design, involvement of right stakeholders, etc...)

  • Support group standards definition on Automation/digitization and control compliance to group standard in his/her scope of responsibility.

  • Ensure exchanges between sites for best practice sharing and solutions scalability

  • Contribute to global initiative on knowledge sharing, benchmark and capabilities building

  • Develop knowledge on current technologies by joining internal and external event or knowledge sharing activities to continually identify opportunities of improvement on productivity, safety and ergonomic leveraging Industry 4.0 technologies

  • Support deployment of automation enablers like infrastructure upgrade/MES and act as a translator between IT, Engineering and Operations team on OT (Operations Technologies) projects and global initiatives

  • Contribute to the definition of the factory of the future in the BU providing key insights on technologies and OT (Operations Technologies) to be deployed

Our requirements

  • University degree in Automation/Electronics Engineering or equivalent with major in automation/OT

  • 7-10 years' relevant experience in Automation with multiple successful implementations of major CAPEX projects including Industry 4.0 technologies with direct accountability of cost, planning and quality.

  • Experience IN IT/OT networking and system architecture design for MES/MOM/PLC/SCADA

  • Experience of implementing automation projects on non-standard pick & place, including robots and AGV

  • Experience of working with geographically dispersed project teams

  • Application and use of Lean tools for automation projects

  • Good understanding and knowledge of P & ID

  • Strong expertise allowing to review and challenge construction, design, preparation and implementation of process improvements on new and existing lines with permanent interest in learning about new and innovative solutions and technologies

  • Good experience of OT (Operations technologies) projects (MES level, network and infrastructure) with ability to interact with different stakeholders.

  • Good HSE awareness on Industry 4.0 technology and ability to follow company HSE instructions


  • Previous experience as automation engineer on various projects will be a plus (including EC & I, Robotics and ideally on other technologies such as AGV, vision systems, etc.)

  • Experience of working in Chemical process industry is a plus.
