Your responsibilities
- Supporting the Continental Europe Compliance function in meeting their 2nd Line of Defence (2LoD) obligations, covering Regulatory Compliance (RC) and Financial Crime (FC), related to reviewing and testing of FC and RC risks and controls to ensure that the required level of 2LoD oversight is in place.
- Leading and contributing to compliance oversight and testing for multiple countries within Continental Europe. It will therefore require effective management and relationship-building with key stakeholders.
- The role holder will not have direct line management responsibility but may lead and manage other testing individuals to deliver assigned work.
- Supporting the team head to improve and maintain the day-to-day running of the Compliance Centre of Excellence (CoE) team and to ensure the efficient decisions and execution of tasks, identifying process improvements and best practices.
- Supporting the Group’s RC strategy by identifying, informing and advising senior management of any developing issues and trends that may impact or be relevant to the administration as appropriate of compliance risk.
- Providing: assistance, solutions and recommendations, and occasionally making decisions appropriate to their areas of responsibility. Critical thinking, analysis and working openly and collaboratively with their line management and team colleagues within the GSC and with crucial stakeholder teams (internal and external to Compliance) at regional and country level is required.
Employer requirements
- Proficiency in English language (written/spoken/formal),
- Degree or equivalent professional qualification in law, economics, accountancy or a similar field,
- Extensive RC and/or FC knowledge, with some experience in testing activities,
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning and articulated justifications,
- Strong collaboration, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to think laterally and solve problems,
- Understanding of RC and/or FC risk within the global financial services industry,
- Working in a significant financial institution within a matrix environment, including reporting internationally,
- High level of professional and personal integrity,
- Understanding of the purpose, value, culture and fundamentals of the Compliance function,
- The ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities is essential.
