For our client, an international company in the retail industry located in Warsaw, we are looking for a candidate for the position of:

Business Controller

Job Function Summary:

Business Controller is responsible for the Finance, Accounting, Reporting activities of the two legal entities based in Switzerland. Responsibilities include control over FP&A activities, financial transactions, accounting operations (general, cost, accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury), audits. Business Controller is accountable for production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, ensure the update and the follow up of the receivable accounting part and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.

Job Functions:

  • You ensure implementation of applicable accounting rules and guarantee the integrity, comprehensiveness and accuracy of accounts for both Swiss entities,
  • You supervise the timely completion of the periodic closing process, ensuring complete and accurate financial statements and related key metrics and reportings. Key deliverables include the periodic common reporting package such as sales, P&L, BS statement, Ico reports and yearly packages…
  • You identify and partner with International Finance Director and Group reporting team to resolve any new or significant accounting and reporting issues,
  • You supervise accounting & consistency checks in partner with the senior accountant (account reconciliations, entry testing, accruals accuracy…)
  • You control spend & investment by project, type & department, and report to account holders,
  • You are support in the analysis of financial performance of both Swiss entities, report performance analysis to his hierarchy as well as business managers (sales, Asp, OPEX analysis …). You develop & present relevant financial analyses, highlighting areas of risk and/or opportunity, providing recommendations. You support local leadership in developing and implementing business strategies that will meet both the short and long-term needs of the business,
  • You are partner with the local management, and local team to evaluate potential business development and new product opportunities. You will be in charge of preparation of business cases and post implementation reporting and support.
  • You are part of the budget process by being support in the preparation of the budget and financial forecast,
  • You support the annual external financial audit, facilitating the preparation of information to the audit team.
  • You are part of the support in implementation and maintaining locally the ERP system (SAGE X3/Other) and Sales BI systems.
  • You lead or assist with special projects as required by local management.
  • You are flexible in order to meet business/customer needs.
  • You participate in any and all reasonable work activities as assigned by local management.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Management or related field.
  • A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in a financial role with strong evidence of professional advancement.
  • Excellent English, both written and spoken
  • Experience in Sage X3 ERP system will be a strong plus.
  • Experience in Healthcare/Pharma/FMCG industry with a multinational foreign parent company is strongly desired.
  • Very analytical, able to consume lots of numbers and make appropriate decisions
  • Team worker with well-developed collaboration skills
  • Independent and self-motivate
  • 2 - 3 days of travel to Geneva per month on average

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to plan, set objectives, measure performance at all levels of local organization.
  • Strong presentation skills accompanied with interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and other database concepts
  • Solid experience with ERP system functions and financial systems
  • Ability to work effectively with all employees and external business contacts while conveying a positive, service oriented attitude
  • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment
