Business Manager - Product, Investments and Collaboration COO

Global Private Banking (GPB) team is dedicated to implementing the GPB strategy to be the leading international Private Bank for business owners and their families, leveraging Group capabilities to enable core HSBC clients and the Next Gen clients to grow, manage and preserve their wealth, thus playing a key role in the Group’s universal banking model.

Your responsibilities would be to:

  • Take ownership of and deliver a portfolio of operational, infrastructure and organizational tasks and projects in line with PIC objectives. The GPB Product, Investments and Collaboration (‘PIC’) COO team supports the PIC function in the management of the business by providing assistance in strategy implementation, project management, business and performance oversight, vendor and third party risk management and taking responsibility for the strength and effectiveness of the first line of defense for PIC through oversight of the risk and control framework.
  • Work in partnership with PIC functions such as Product Development & Governance, Global Products, Advisory, Managed Solutions, PIC Global Head Business Manager, Chief Control Office, Transformation, Finance, etc. as appropriate with regard to delivering growth, strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Play key role in the PIC COO team to oversee, co-ordinate and deliver strategy implementation, project management, change, risk and control, regulations and governance in PIC.
  • Support the PIC COO in executing and co-ordinating the PIC strategy, and sponsoring and/or steering broader organizational transformation.
  • Collaborate with other GPB Booking Centres in delivering growth initiatives as relevant to make sure there is global consistency and synergy.
  • Work with Regulatory Compliance to ensure initiatives meet regulatory requirements Private Bank products and services are distributed to clients in compliance with laws and regulations. PUBLIC - 2
  • Input into governance fora on strategic and operational initiatives, including writing and presenting papers and providing both written and verbal updates.
  • Act as first line of defense within PIC, designing and executing BAU business controls.
  • Partner the Risk, Regulatory Compliance and Control Office functions to oversee risk management issues across PIC, ensuring that business activities comply with Group policies and external regulators' requirements.
  • Own and manage PIC-related Audit, RCMAT, BRCM, SQA, FCC and other Control Office associated work, making sure there is global applicability as appropriate.
  • Investigate operational incidents and events, identifying root causes and remedial actions, and making sure incidents are effectively logged. Share with other Booking Centres (including lessons learned) for awareness and prevention of repeat instances.
  • Own the risk management and ongoing performance oversight of designated PIC vendors to assure the ongoing quality and effectiveness of delivery.
  • Own and deliver a portfolio of PIC risk & control and regulatory projects.
  • Supporting consistent implementation of new and revised FIM policies across PIC area.
  • Support Business Recovery Planning / Business Continuity Management activities.
  • Involvement in the monthly ServCo allocation process.
  • Involvement in the implementation of vendor management and market data governance and the BAU operation of these.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and align procedures and processes and avoid duplication across GPB Booking Centres, while maintaining a strong control framework.
  • Interacting with senior management confidently on a variety of topics.
  • Diligent prioritization of workload while maintaining a high quality of delivery in often challenging circumstances.
  • The role holder will have no direct reports and will report directly to the Global PIC COO located in the United Kingdom.

What is expect of you:

  • University bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Relevant working experience/understanding of Investment Products, Operations, Risk & Control, Regulations and Finance. Private Banking experience highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in an environment that demands organizational agility and getting results through effective management of processes; possess capacity to define problems, analyze causes, assess options and find effective solutions; ability to relate to people at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Sell motivated, driven and delivery focused, with a good understanding of project management disciplines and techniques.
  • Very strong administrative, management and presentational skills.
  • Highly organized with very exemplary attention to detail.
  • Highly adaptable with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently.
  • Must possess excellent presentation, interpersonal, negotiation, communication and analytical skills
  • Very strong written and verbal communicator.
  • Knowledge of GPB Strategy and the Group beneficial.
  • Knowledge of PIC product suite a plus.
  • Strong Excel, PPT, Word skills.
  • Certificate in Investment Management and/or other recognized professional banking/investment qualifications beneficial.
