About the project

WPB Tech Platform Business Manager will lead or take ownership of business management activities, supporting Platform CTO and Technology Engineering Heads.

The role expects to possess knowledge of financial budgeting, strategic planning, communication, and people management processes in the context of the business area they are located in but are not expected to have specific product knowledge relating to the business or function in which they are located.

The WPB Tech Platform Business Manager has four main pillars of responsibilities in its remit:

1. Single Point of Contact for the Platform CTO and its leadership team

2. Operational Management and Governance

3. Financial and Vendor Management

4. Resourcing and Manpower Management

Your responsibilities

  • Participate in business planning activities which may include financial, technological and resource planning

  • Facilitate & support senior management decision making by use of management information, performance information, analytics, forums, stakeholder feedback and HSBC strategy

  • Participation in forums and committees to represent view of business area

  • Participation in devising and monitoring of internal governance activities

  • Investigating and seeking remedies for discrete issues which may be adversely affecting business unit performance

  • Working with external service providers to manage or evaluate their provision, monitor their performance and ensure service level agreements are honored

  • In essence, the WPB Tech Platform Business Manager is responsible for overseeing and supervising a technology platform’s activities and employees. This includes following non-exhaustive list of specific tasks in the global remit of this role:

  • Partner CTO in line with WPB Tech objectives, targets and desired outcomes

  • Bridge the gap between CTO and COO world

  • Operational Process and Mapping

  • Clarity Administration Oversight

  • Timesheet and other Compliance [such as Core Leave, Mandatory Training etc] Performance Management

  • Vendor Management [incl. Passthrough Processing & SoW Contract ownership]

  • Status & MI Reporting [such as MPP and financials control]

  • Business Communications

  • Direct Costs, Financial Planning, Management & Reporting [incl. Budgeting & Forecasts]

  • Benefits and Cost Save Tracking [such as DevOps, Agile etc] for IT sponsored projects only

  • Resource, Work and HW/SW Requests

  • Performance Management

  • Portfolio Allocation / Billable Products Demand Allocation

  • Organizational Charts

  • Leaver Exit Processing Oversight

  • Lead the annual and monthly resource planning

  • Monitoring and reporting progress against plans

Our requirements

  • Experience within Financial services within IT department

  • Experience of producing high quality reporting and presentation to tight deadlines

  • Previous experience of working & servicing globally distributed teams and understanding global issues

  • Cost controller or IT Planning & Finance experience

  • Familiarity with activity based costing and other cost methodologies

  • Strong Stakeholder management / Relationship Management

  • Educated to graduate level

  • Strong planning and financial management experience

  • Analytical analysis, data mining

  • Experience of project management processes

  • Highly organized individual

  • Meticulous attention to detail

  • Worked in a global virtual team

  • Change agent and evidence of process improvement in previous roles

  • Strong communicator – able to express ideas via various communication channels

  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse audiences

  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team, as required
