About the project

Who we are looking for

The AVP of Procurement is an important role within State Street’s Global Procurement Team and is responsible for development and implementation of the category strategy for IT Globalization (ITG). The ITG program governs our global Application Development, Maintenance and Support (ADM) Third-party Labor Suppliers. This role will help drive our Procurement strategy, transformation initiatives, and implementation plans to ensure our Businesses have the most cost effective and optimal IT services where needed.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and implement category strategies, financial models, and implementation plans for ITG Suppliers to optimize purchasing power in this key category of Third Party Spend

  • Lead complex negotiations with suppliers to reduce the expense base, improve service capabilities, and optimize location strategy (nearshore/offshore)

  • Partner with business lines to understand their resource strategy in order to anticipate and meet their ITG resource needs; ability to balance business needs with cost efficiencies

  • Help businesses optimize their spend by analyzing and eliminating unnecessary demand, vetting and utilizing lower cost alternatives

  • Research and leverage marketplace best practices and industry benchmarking data to identify opportunities

  • Serve as escalation contact for internal stakeholders and external providers as required

  • Engage and work closely with business partners and management on strategic sourcing requirements cultivate 3rd party relationships, coordinating data and functionality requirements, projects, priorities, and timelines in order to develop the appropriate solutioning advice. addition to driving the commercial aspects of these vendor engagements.

  • Heavily contribute to P&L and Cost Avoid savings for the team

  • Analyze data to identify opportunities to reduce existing cost base

  • Coordinate, prepare and manage RFx/competitive bids to optimize cost and service

  • Use a white glove approach in stakeholder management to provide advice and guidance within software sourcing

Our requirements

  • Ability to create sourcing strategies and independently collect data

  • Top level commercial negotiation skills with ability to influence cross-functionally

  • Strong strategic thinker and problem solver with attention to detail

  • Top quality written and verbal English communication skills

  • Ability to manage challenging stakeholders diplomatically

  • Personal resilience to work within an extremely fast-paced, ambiguous environment

  • Proven self-starter who can work independently and within a team while effectively juggling multiple priorities

  • 8 years strategic sourcing experience is a must

  • Experience in IT Labor strongly preferred

  • Proven track record of developing robust category strategies, implementing project plans, and leading negotiations to bring in cost savings and other benefits

  • Ability to support BUs on third-party needs and influence their strategies by leveraging marketplace insights, data analysis, and guidance on supplier capabilities

  • Tenacity and will to win to overcome obstacles with negotiations and implementation plans

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for senior level audiences

  • Excellent analytical skills with data analysis, insights, and recommendations to help drive cost saves; high level proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experience working with large scale ADM Suppliers preferred (Tata Consulting Services, Atos Syntel, Wipro, etc.)

  • Proven track record of delivering P&L saving projects
