Your responsibilities

  • As part of a global team, the Controls Manager will be expected to support and collaborate with other team members across multiple regions.

  • Role responsibilities are to support the Global Head of Technology Controls, WPB, across all aspects of the CCO WPB team. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • Act as trusted advisor for the senior management of the supported remit area on how to properly manage their operational risk and all items related (Risk assessments, Control environment, issues management, etc)

  • Manage the promotion of accountable risk and control decision-making based on quality data and commercial analysis

  • Manage the provision of specialist risk and control knowledge and insights

  • Support efforts to continuously improve the control environment, monitoring of risk, including behaviours

  • Support efforts to evolve the controls architecture to reflect digital, dev ops and cloud agendas

  • Identify themes to anticipate future developments in the risk and control environment

  • Actively challenge poor, inefficient or excessive controls, related tasks and behaviours

  • Support the development and implementation of future-fit risk management frameworks

  • Influence and shape the development of regulatory frameworks in collaboration with internal parties

  • Provide remit area Senior Management with updates on any relevant changes to policy or projects related to operational risk that have an impact on their area of responsibility.

  • Promote desired behaviours and a positive risk culture across the remit area

  • Support IT stakeholders in ongoing Audits and issue/action closure

  • Attending and driving risk and control agenda in MIR (Major Incident Review) and PIR (Post Incident Review) meetings

  • Partner with Operational Risk, Risk Stewards, and Internal / External Audit to ensure a holistic and accurate view of risk profile

Our requirements

  • Ability to deliver Insightful Risk and control Information

  • Ability to provide Technology, Infrastructure, Cyber & Information Security and Data control expertise is desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of the HSBC Group organization is desirable

  • Knowledge and experience in the second or third line is desirable

  • Planning and project management skill

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision

  • Minimum of 3 years of financial industry / consulting / IT Control experience

  • Experience across IT, Operations, Risk Management, and / or Audit roles requiring management of diverse

  • risk types.

  • Demonstrated experience and subject matter expertise in management of operational risk sufficient to

  • interface effectively with and provide guidance to associated Risk and Control owners

  • Degree in information security, computer science or computer engineering qualifications desirable

  • Certifications CISA, CISM, CISSP, CRISC, COBIT or ITIL desirable

About the role

  • The Chief Control Office (CCO) plays an important role in enabling the bank to operate within its risk appetite, by ensuring efficient and effective risk and control management. CCO achieves this by providing operational risk and control expertise, providing high quality reviews of the bank's control environment, conducting end to end reviews on key controls, maintaining robust risk governance focused on material risk and issues, and evolving a culture of continuous and consistent risk management.

  • The CCO Manager - Wealth & Personal Banking (WPB) CCO is part of the CCO Technology, WPB within the DBS (Digital Business Service) CCO Technology Office and will report into the Senior Manager WPB, CCO Technology. This role is responsible for embedding the Non-Financial Risk Framework and management of IT Risks and Controls.
