Your responsibilities

  • Act as trusted advisor for the senior management of the supported remit area on how to properly manage their operational risk and all items related (Risk assessments, Control environment, issues management)

  • Manage the promotion of accountable risk and control decision-making based on quality data and commercial analysis

  • Identify trends to anticipate future developments in the risk and control environment

  • Support the provision of specialist risk and control knowledge and insights

  • Support efforts to continuously improve the control environment

  • Actively challenge poor, inefficient or excessive controls, related tasks and behaviours

  • Help Manage the development and implementation of future-fit risk management frameworks

  • Provide remit area Senior Management with updates on any relevant changes to policy or projects related to operational risk that have an impact on their area of responsibility.

  • Promote desired behaviours and a positive risk culture across the remit area

  • Support initiatives to drive improvements to the control environment

  • Provide risk and controls consultancy, advice and guidance

  • Ensure the appropriate application of policies in line with control standards and procedures

  • Support to embed the risk and control management framework

Our requirements

  • Experience in a risk and control environment

  • Flexible in their style of work, curious and analytical is essential

  • Flexible and adaptable being able to manage and prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven ability in analytical reasoning, including being able to contextualize data into business activities and conclusions

  • Planning and project management skills

  • Strong communication skills to be able influence and challenge stakeholders

  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills

  • High level of attention to detail and ability to lead activities

  • Ability to drill down to root cause and write/review clearly articulated risk and control documentation

  • A desire to find ways to continually improve the service delivered

  • Identifying, defining, and solving problems that impact on your work or the wider business

  • Knowledge and understanding of the HSBC Group organization is desirable

About the role

The Chief Control Office (CCO) plays a key role in enabling the bank to operate within its risk appetite, by ensuring efficient and effective risk and control management. CCO achieves this by providing operational risk and control expertise, conducting high quality reviews of the bank's control environment, conducting end to end control assurance reviews on key controls, maintaining robust risk governance focused on material risk and issues, and evolving a culture of continuous and consistent risk management.

The Control Manager, Governance and Reporting role is part of the CCO Technology, Cyber Security team within the DBS CCO Technology Office and will report into Senior Control Management, Technology CCO, Cyber Security.
