About the project
We are looking for a Cloud Security Engineer (Azure) to join us in a newly created role to support QIAGEN's cloud strategy. The candidate will play a key role in our cloud security posture management and workload protection efforts and take lead of defining, improving and managing security configuration aspects of our cloud environments.
You will be working closely with our Solution and Security architects, Cloud Operations/SRE, DevOps, as well as Security Operations team to ensure QIAGEN cloud services are appropriately protected and monitored. In this hands-on role, you will be subject matter expert on securing and securely operating our Azure Cloud environments and services. You will ensure that our cloud based services are appropriately monitored for suspicious behaviour by our SecOps team, potential security issues are proactively identified and handled appropriately in coordination with Cloud Operations and business support teams.
Develop, improve, implement and ensure ongoing compliance with a QIAGEN appropriate Azure Cloud Security Controls Framework aligned to best practice security frameworks (e.g. CSA, CIS or similar).
Create, implement and maintain Cloud-specific security policies, standards and procedures as appropriate for our cloud environment in partnership with key stakeholder.
Create, implement and maintain automated security posture and workload compliance monitoring, integrated with existing Security Operations solutions.
Act as subject matter expert and support business and operations teams in all aspects of cloud security posture management, secure cloud services configuration and monitoring, secure cloud automation processes and related topics.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex security issues in Microsoft Azure, apply fundamental systems security understanding, skills, expertise, and experience to support the planning, design, development, and implementation of complex environments.
Three years of experience in Azure cloud security engineering/architecture.
Five years of general Cloud Operations and/or Security Operations experience.
Professional qualifications suitable to the role (CCSP, CCSK, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
Very strong knowledge and experience with cloud security operations at scale and extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services and cloud security compliance requirements.
Expertise with Azure security concepts and services including Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), Azure Information Protection (AIP), Azure Key Vault, Azure Security Center, Azure Operations Management Service, Log Analytics, Sentinel, PIM, Identity and Access Management, etc.
Fluent knowledge of English.
Expertise in a broad array of cloud systems and network security technical controls and processes (e.g., identity & access management, system hardening, network segmentation, incident response, intrusion prevention, DDOS mitigation, threat intelligence, etc.).
Extensive experience with automation and infrastructure/security as code in common scripting languages like Bash, PowerShell, Python.
Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision and dedicated to deliver results.
Ability to work in a team environment with aggressive deadlines and multiple priorities while staying a team player.
Strong personality, able to quickly build positive cross functional relationships.
Evidence of ongoing personal development in the information security profession e.g. research, tool development or personal blog.
