Your responsibilities
Oversight of Controls - Support the CMB/GBM Risk Steward to understand how well change is governed, planned, delivered, and how well change impacts are identified and managed in the Business.
Provide Change Execution oversight of High Impact Change Initiatives - Support the CMB/GBM Risk Steward in their oversight responsibilities for higher impact change initiatives within the Business throughout their lifecycle. At key points during the delivery of high impact change initiatives, the role holder will engage with the initiative teams.
Risk Policy - Support the cascade of Change Execution Risk policy requirements and guidelines in CMB/GBM. Monitor policy compliance and mobilise operational risk education initiatives in response to learning needs.
RCA Execution - Support the cascade of design requirements associated with the Change Execution Risk Taxonomy and Control Library within the Business. Recommend RCA scoping principles and challenge where this is not appropriately applied in CMB/GBM. Provide advice, review and challenge throughout the RCA process (for CMB/GBM Change Execution RCA(s)). Support the first line of defence with their execution of trigger event management.
Reporting and Capital Management - Support 2LOD reporting on the Change Execution RCA(s) for CMB/GBM, including impacts of external environment changes, emerging risks and changes to the business strategy. Sample review and challenge 1LOD risk reporting where there are discrepancies or misalignments with Risk Steward-produced/inputted reporting, and escalate where required. Support execution of Capital Management, Scenario Analysis and Stress Testing processes as required for CMB/GBM.
Our requirements
Strong NFR knowledge and expertise to confidently engage with a variety of risk and change managers in the Group (across the Three Lines of Defence).
Experience of delivery or oversight of transformation in a 1LOD or 2LOD capacity.
Knowledge of the major areas of a Global Bank, with strong experience and understanding of commercial and investment banking products and processes, and an appreciation of the risk characteristics / profile therein.
Experience in dealing with complex problems by adopting a pragmatic approach, identifying and prioritising core requirements and translating them into a clear set of required activities that address the problem essential.
Excellent listening and verbal communication skills to be able to identify and present complex issues and build relationships with key internal & external stakeholders and be able to challenge and influence their decisions.
Excellent written communication skills to develop compelling and logically structured presentations and papers that are thoughtful, clear and concise.
Excellent analytical skills; comfortable interrogating data; able to review and evaluate a wide array of materials leading to key insights and robust evidence that form the basis of a logical judgment / set of recommendations.
At ease with ambiguity, uncertainty and a changing environment. Not afraid to change the status quo to deliver the best outcomes.
Business fluency in English
A BA or BS University Degree, advanced degrees preferable, (e.g. MBA, MSc, PhD) in relevant discipline

About the role
Global Operational and Resilience Risk (ORR) is a sub function of the Group Risk function. Its purpose is to make sure HSBC understands, and is in control of its non-financial risk position. In addition, the function provides resilience risk stewardship to the global businesses, functions and entities we operate in.
The role holder will work within the CMB/GBM ORR team supporting the CMB/GBM Change Execution Risk Steward team. The role holder will have responsibility for providing Change Execution Risk subject matter expertise, advice, guidance, and effective challenge to the First Line of Defence.
