In order to facilitate the adoption of this strategy we are looking to recruit a Data Analyst to join our Digital Business Automation function.
We’re looking for a dynamic individual with a strong background of Data Analytics in IT Infrastructure.
The Team
Digital Business Automation (DigiBA) are a global function with over 250 staff in 12 countries. We are responsible for defining and implementing the strategy for a number of critical products across the organisation, as well as ensuring their availability, recoverability and security.
This Data Analyst role will be part of Observability Pod which is responsible for providing Observability solutions for the Critical Services within the HSBC IT Infrastructure environment.
Your responsibilities
Independently perform data analytics, including data mining, generation, data cleansing and data visualization of System and Application Performance data.
Transforming data into readable, goal-driven reports for continued innovation and growth.
Develop, implement, and maintain leading-edge analytic systems, taking complicated problems and building simple frameworks
Identify trends and opportunities for growth through analysis of complex data sets
Evaluate organizational methods and provide source-to-target mappings and information-model specification documents for data sets
Create best-practice reports based on data mining, analysis, and visualization
Evaluate internal systems for efficiency, problems, and inaccuracies, developing and maintaining protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning data
Work directly with management and users to gather requirements, provide status updates, and build relationships
Suggest ideas and contribute to implementing actions that will improve governance and administration or the way teams and individuals work together.
Adhere to HSBC policy, procedures and control requirements applicable to day-to-day working, exceptional and project activities, and raise any concerns about actual or potential issues promptly, in line with reporting and escalation procedures.
Apply policies, procedures, practices and standards to their allocated tasks, taking responsibility for their own actions, to ensure the achievement of high levels of quality, effective risk management and regulatory compliance.
Our requirements
3+ years of experience mining data as a data analyst
Proven statistical and analytic skills, including mining, evaluation, analysis, and visualization
The ability to extract and analyse data into clear and logical reports with a particular attention to detail.
Proficient in the use of the MS Office product suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, particularly Excel with a knowledge of pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, etc.
Strong knowledge of data manipulation languages such as Pythin, R, Spark, Scala, Apache Kafka necessary to build and maintain complex queries, streaming and real-time data pipelines
Hands-on with Data Handling, data acquisition, data transformation, and data cleaning.
Well versed with SQL and Relational Databases
Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Qlik Sense, Power BI, QuickSight, or similar tools
Experiece in Big Data with experience to handle and work with terabytes of data
Ability to communicate complex issues concisely and strong relationship management skills with the ability to manage and engage multiple stakeholders.
Understanding of end-to-end business/functional processes with industry vertical/sub vertical to be able to translate business requirements into system requirements and perform impact analysis of changes in requirements
Technical writing experience in relevant areas, including queries, reports, and presentations

Familiarity with modern machine learning methods for regression and classification
Experience on DevOps processes and Agile methodologies – Scrum, Kanban
Experience of using Service Now, Confluence, Jira is preferred
Knowledge of Event Management tools and of Operations Automation like AIOPs is desirable
Understanding of Cloud Concepts (AWS, GCP) and AI/ML is desirable
Knowledge and Understanding of Splunk, AppDynamics, Thousand Eyes is desirable
