Operating in a high performing, valuable and scalable data management team to meet customer demand across the Europe region.
Embed continuous improvement into the delivery process such as agile delivery.
Fully accountable for reporting of progress, issues, dependencies, and risks to stakeholders, data governance forums and/or steering committees. Make recommendations to influence decision-making to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realization.
Become a trusted advisor, manage stakeholder’s expectations and working relationship with the teams with focus on transparency and collaboration. Influence the delivery approach, building stakeholder buy-in around delivery, commitment and changes.
Control and manage benefits delivery across multiple initiatives.
Accountable to ensure deliveries remain within agreed budgets.
Key responsibilities include some of but not limited to:
Support the implementation of HSBC data governance and quality guidelines, procedures, methods etc.
Ensure good practices in the management of data tools, standards, frameworks and templates
Manage and monitor operational risk in the field of data management.
Create and govern relationships between data elements across different systems.
Ensure that the initiative (change or operational) objectives are clearly understood and mutually agreed by the stakeholders.
Generate strong and realistic business cases using business knowledge and ability to question and challenge etc.
Develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships across streams
Ensure close coordination and collaboration with Support Functions.
Engage the participants to deliver according to the plan irrespective of their reporting departments.
Coordinate on cost benefit study and prepare proposal on data initiatives.
Derive approach and prepare plan in a cost effective/efficient manner
Providing timely and accurate status reporting to key stakeholders and sponsors.
Ensure all activities are compliant with HSBC business standards
Effectively manage all dependencies and interactions across associated and complimentary projects / activities.
Monitor and track progress of all deliverables within the stream and ensure benefit realisation.
Provide accurate and effective cost monitoring.
Manage and escalate risks and issues in a timely manner
For Risk and Issue management, detect and report risk and issue at timely manner, coordinate and identify solution with relevant parties and monitor progress to achieve the closure.
Coordinate and provide rigorous Financial reporting around spend and benefit to business sponsors and Finance.
Leadership & Teamwork
Provides motivational leadership, sets team performance expectations and monitors progress
Overall responsibility for supervising a department or a business unit/area team, or manages delivery for most complex assignments
Attract and lead top talent to deliver data management services.
Build and leverage strong relationships with senior leaders across HSBC and to understand, prioritise and meet demand for data management which supports overall business strategy.
Maintain an effective Data operating model (organisation, people, process, and tools) across the Europe region
Track-record of developing and implementing a data strategy.
Extensive experience of leading multi-disciplined teams to deliver exceptional customer service and value.
Proven ability to deliver change globally across matrix-based organisations.
Thought-leader in data management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skill.
Experience in delivering in a highly regulated environment.
Experience in data privacy and cloud preferable.

The Europe Global Businesses and Functions Engagement Lead primarily supports all the Protect, Connect and Unlock pillars of the strategy.
Under the Europe Head of Data and Architecture Office, one of the key roles is the Europe Global Businesses and Functions Data Engagement Lead, who is responsible to act as the front door to the stakeholders at global, regional and country level, to connect data initiative to the related service providers and teams to develop the initiatives, which will drive the data improvement and growth across the Bank in Europe.
This role will work across all Global Business and Functions and Locations across Europe and UK Non-ring fenced bank to ensure governance, alignment and the engagement to rollout of the data programmes and data initiatives.
Key priorities include:
Data Control Implementation, including data movement, data storage and data use
GDPR Compliance for Data Privacy
Data related audit, regulatory and compliance activities
