About the project

The Data and Architecture Office (DAO) was established to transform HSBC into a truly data-driven organisation by ensuring that every design decision has a built-in data consideration. As DAO we will provide leadership that enables data and analytics to be a key driver of our business strategy. Working closely in partnership with senior stakeholders and delivery teams all over the world to connect the business processes, data, products, services, and technology that underpin customer value and financial success.

Group Data Privacy & Transfers sits within the Data & Analytics structure in DAO. The Operations Manager will report into the Head of Group Data Privacy & Transfers and will support the smooth running of the Group Data Privacy teams, within DAO. On occasion, the role will provide direct support to the Head of Group Data and Analytics Risk Management as required.

Your responsibilities

  • Administrative support for the Head of Group Data Privacy & Transfers

  • Developing and implementing a consistent and effective approach to operations management across the Data Privacy & Transfer teams

  • Responsible for managing cross-team issues for escalation

  • Working closely with the Business Manager and be responsible for tracking resourcing plans, and assisting with recruitment, onboarding and training for Group Data Privacy & Transfers, ensuring appropriate engagement and alignment with wider Data and Analytics

  • Take an active role in business activities in support of business area aims

  • Participate and support in business planning activities which will mainly include resource planning

  • Prepare for and attend regular and ad hoc Group Data Privacy & Transfer forums, creating and circulating documentation in advance, recording minutes and overseeing the completion of actions.

  • Actively collaborate and contribute to other DAO forums as required, to share best practice and knowledge share

  • Act as Primary Point of Contact for Data Privacy Leads in the Global Businesses and Global Functions (GBGFs) on privacy related matters, responding to queries and tracking actions to completion

Our requirements

  • Experience in supporting, communicating with and providing assistance to senior managers in a multinational organisation.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels across the Group.

  • Ability to prioritise workload and respond to changing and varied demands. Recognise and act upon timely escalation of issues.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

  • Experience of Project / Change management – confident in challenging business processes.

Optional

  • The role requires a sound understanding of a value unit / product / region / legal entity, alongside a good understanding of the industry and the challenges and changes in the sector.

  • The role requires the ability to guide, persuade and influence others through the developed skills of communication and diplomacy.
