Brown Brothers Harriman is seeking a Database Team Leader to join its Transfer Agency Systems group. As a Database Team Leader, you will work as part of a dynamic technical team responsible for delivering all IT project services for a demanding business. You will work closely with business/product experts, architects, vendors and application developers to conceptualize, develop and deliver projects and solutions. This role involves strong and active participation in team leadership, data architecture, application design and implementation, project and resource planning.

Main areas of responsibilities:
Leading of design efforts and implementation for database development projects
Identifying and scheduling elimination of system weaknesses and inefficiencies
Designing data structures and flows of event transformation and ingestion to the new big data platform
Maintaining the entire code base under a clean code discipline related to managing source code, automated tests, continuous integration, and completing implementation of the continuous deployment system
Responsible for team design, team leadership, career development, and performance appraisals.
Foster and drive innovation, overseeing the prioritization of new business concepts/ideas
Work with management peers in the Business and Systems organizations to plan and execute Transfer Agency’s most strategic initiatives.
Represent the Transfer Agency Systems Data group in senior leadership discussions.
Undergraduate Degree (Computer Science or Management Information Systems preferred).
10+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data modeling, and Database design, with hands-on development of all logical layers of a solution and non-functional aspects
Advanced knowledge of PL/SQL, ability to apply SQL creatively to a variety of business requirements.
Familiarity with big data technologies related to stream data processing (MongoDB, Hadoop, Kafka, Spark)
Accomplished implementations of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery for database
Knowledge of UNIX, shell scripting and system performance tuning tools
Familiarity with ETL/ELT platforms such as Oracle’s ODI
5+ years of experience in a project or technical leadership role in Software Development
Proven track record of actively managing non-functional attributes of a complex technical platform, including performance, security, maintainability and others
Demonstrated experience with full life cycle of software development using Waterfall and Agile (SCRUM, XP, etc.).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High level of fluency in English including on the telephone
Work experience in an international environment, preferably in Financial Services.
Positive, can do attitude, open to change.
Demonstrated ability to take ownership and initiative
Ability to work in teams and cultivate relationships across multiple geographical locations
Highly organized and able to manage priorities and multiple work streams
Strong negotiation skills. Previous vendor management experience is a plus.
Transparent, structured and results oriented approach.
Ability to understand big picture product strategy and manage the delivery of projects to achieve the strategy.
