    About the job

    PURPOSE: This role provides a professional service through the efficient operation of financial process, typically as part of a team managed by an SMA or above.                                                                 

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:                                                                            


    • Delivery of an end to end finance service to the business incorporating:-                                                    
      • Provision of Actual, Forecast and associated variance analysis to the business
      • Relevant Balance Sheet management including working capital management
      • Operation of financial controls and governance processes                                                
    • Provides a professional financial service to the business
    • Reports financials through corporate systems in line with group and statutory requirements
    • Applies finance policy manual and uses accounting applications to support the provision of data     
    • Prepares management reports for line and functional managers to highlight key issues                       
    • May be requested to provide basic advice and recommendations in specialist areas
    • Influences performance by contributing to resolving local problems and advising line management in order to influence decisions relating to some or all of revenue, margin, cash flow, investments, productivity, systems, controls or processes
    • Ensures effective communication of events or proposals that would trigger a negative variance to forecast or budget                                                                                 
    • Promote personal development for self, through the prevailing Corporate tools and operations
    • Possible autonomy with minimum of supervision                                                                  
    • Understands the different types of projects (T&M, Fixed Price)                                       
    • Understands basic project accounting concepts (Revenue accruals and deferrals, Cost accruals and deferrals, Milestone accounting, WIP).                                                        
    • Be an expert in the use of OPA and the structure of project and task codes                                
    • Awareness of the Company Business Operating Model                                                       
    • Understands contract segmentation (base service, projects etc)                                                     
    • Understands the key financial terms in the contract                                                             

    Performs contract backlog reconciliations         

    KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:                                                                          
    • Successful audit clearance from external auditors for area of responsibility                        
    • No control issues identified (JSOX / BSI / Internal Audit), audit points promptly followed up and control framework implemented.                                                         
    • Adherence to Corporate policy and relevant financial accounting standards       
    • Timely and accurate assimilation of data provided as understandable, readable information for managers to use.                                                    
    • Month-end deadlines are consistently met to the right level of accuracy and detail.       
    • Evidence of effective, quality service provided via feedback from business and finance managers.
    Takes ownership of low level issues and escalates as required. 


    (IF APPLICABLE):      

    • Bachelor's degree in finance or related field
    • Practical work experience in a finance function or specialist function                                                    
    • Studying towards or Part Qualified (CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, CTA and Institute of Corporate Treasurers or equivalent)                                                      
    • AAT or ATT qualified                     
    • Excellent attention to detail                                                      
    • Effective and enthusiastic team worker who creates positive working relationships
    • High competence in key system skills, including Excel, Oracle and HFM
