Our technology teams work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world.

Following extensive investment across ] WPB Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2021 and beyond, we are currently seeking an experienced Engineering Site Lead to join HSBC Technology.

The role holder will be responsible for API & Core Services team locally. This role is for an engineering site lead of the API development teams responsible for building APIs across WPB and other lines of business.

Your responsibilities

  • Prove leadership for API & Core services team local and ensuring the expected outcomes, including costs and headcount efficiencies
  • Create and evolve the organisation of the team
  • Drive performance for the team and hold them accountable for delivery
  • Make hiring plans and hiring decisions
  • Provide frequent feedback and coaching of the team
  • Provide a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment for your team to execute on its priorities
  • Communicate at all levels from senior leaders to individual contributors, including technical and non-technical audiences
  • Adapt the teams plans and goals to support the business strategy
  • Own the team’s output, taking responsibility for their performance
  • Resource and Talent Management
  • Vendor Management – Third Party Management
  • Supporting the team in their journey through line management, training and career development

  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to influence, lead and drive teams to deliver
  • Demonstrate good judgement and a high level of communication skills to achieve effective stakeholder management
  • Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely, suitable for all levels across the HSBC group.
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams to effectively transform and embed cultural change
  • Respectful of different cultures, working with colleagues from across all the globe
  • Excellent people management skills
  • Establish successful partnerships with key stakeholders such as product managers, value stream leads, business owners
