Environmental, Health & Safety Manager
Location: Gdańsk

The EHS Manager is responsible for leading systems, processes and procedures that promote a positive safety culture to have an injury free and healthy workplace. EHS Manager partners the plant management team in fostering the care for save behaviors and safety leadership competencies development. This role is responsible for the safety and environmental compliance of the facility. This position reports directly to Plant Manager.

You will:

  • Be a safety leader and communicate effectively to ensure all employees know, understand and execute safe work practices
  • Work in partnership with local management to develop and implement strategies, policies, and services to increase employee safety & reduce organization risks
  • Develop, implement and maintain effective systems, procedures and trainings to achieve and maintain an accident free, injury free, and healthy work environment to enhance the company safety culture
  • Plan and implement procedures, programs, and file regulatory reports in compliance with Polish regulations
  • Provide leadership in developing, implementing and managing EH&S policies, programs and practices. Lead local efforts around key company EHS initiatives
  • Assist with new employee safety orientation program and employee safety training
  • Inspect organization to detect existing or potential incident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented
  • Assist with the investigation of all incidents and injuries from initial report to closure
  • Manage leading indicator efforts including safe work observation process and hazard recognition
  • Lead and maintain Contractor safety effort; assist in development of contractor work plans and monitor compliance
  • Be responsible for plant-wide EHS communications; utilize resources from EHS function, participate in Area EHS calls and communicate/distribute materials to site leaders; prepare and provide info at plant-wide meetings
  • Promote sustainability of safety leadership tools; provide feedback to leaders on skill improvements needed
  • Ensure the technological process fulfills the environmental protection norms
  • Control the results of industrial waste of any kind
  • Manage and be responsible for the company water system
  • Work with lead team to develop and implement site-specific annual objectives for EHS
  • Provide leadership for EHS team

You have:

  • University degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field (required)
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment with responsibility for Environmental, Health and Safety.
  • Understanding of safety leadership culture
  • Knowledge of EHS compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Quality orientation and customer focus
  • Genuine care for safety
  • Ability to shape and influence the desired behaviors with organization
  • Experience in leading direct reports (preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; presentation and delivery skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative fashion to accomplish EHS requirements and objectives
