Your responsibilities

  • Support recurring external financial reporting processes in compliance with IFRS accounting standards and US (SEC/NYSE) and Swiss (SIX) reporting requirements, including issuance of quarterly Form 6-Ks and year-end Form 20-F

  • Draft external disclosures for assigned sections and footnotes, including completion of corresponding disclosure checklist considerations

  • Coordinate with External Reporting team leaders and colleagues in Consolidations & Reporting and Technical Accounting teams to drive continuous improvement in external reporting processes

  • Lead roll forward and tie out of SEC reporting and earnings documents on a quarterly basis (e.g., Form 6-K, press release, earnings script and slides)

  • Serve as key liaison between External Financial Reporting team based in the United States and the Consolidation & Reporting team based in Europe

  • Engage with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., Investor Relations, BPA / Finance, Treasury, HR, Legal, Tax) on recurring reporting matters and ad hoc issues associated with assigned areas

  • Support US GAAP conversion project for the 10-K equivalent of assigned IFRS areas (e.g., 10-K presentation of share-based compensation reporting)

Our requirements

  • Fluent in English (verbal and written)

  • 5+ years relevant experience

  • Technical accounting expertise in IFRS and/or US GAAP

  • Financial reporting disclosure expertise

  • CPA or Chartered Accountant

  • Strongly preferred: Public accounting experience (Big 4 or similar), Public company SEC external reporting experience, Workiva and/or SAP experience

Alcon is looking to hire a Manager, External Financial Reporting in Warsaw, Poland to join our Global Financial Reporting & Accounting (“FRA”) team for External Financial Reporting. Alcon is a global company with more than 24,000 associates specializing in the research, development, manufacturing and marketing of a broad range of eye care products. Alcon has $8 billion in annual revenues and is dual-listed on the NYSE and Swiss SIX exchanges.

This role will be a critical member of the external reporting function which is responsible for recurring quarterly SEC reporting as a foreign private issuer (“FPI”) in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”). Alcon’s External Financial Reporting team is based in the United States in Forth Worth, Texas. This individual will represent an expansion of the team to create an international footprint and will be collocated with other members of the Alcon finance team in the Warsaw AGS. This individual will work closely with the core global accounting team and the broader finance function to ensure that we have timely, complete, and accurate filings. Another key responsibility will be participation in the team’s ongoing US GAAP conversion project.
