Finance Control Manager
Location: Kraków

The role is based in the Global Finance Centre in Krakow, Poland. The centre is supporting the development of the businesses across the European region. The centre covers all finance functions including Business Finance, Financial Control and Systems.

The team is responsible for Operational Accounting processes for subsidiaries of HSBC. These covers Accounting processes, as well as External and Regulatory Reporting (IFRS reporting, FINREP, COREP, etc.).

It is also dedicated to lead new standards/regulations implementation, deliver process improvements, lead various streamlining projects and act as support for in-country teams.

The role of Manager is to manage the Operational Accounting teams, review external and regulatory reports prepared by accounting staff, supervise Balance Sheet reconciliations, review GL posting and supporting calculation, control all consolidation activities, prepare complex reports and reconciliations, supervise month-end closing process, support staff on application accounting principles and regulations, ensure compliance with internal procedures and internal control.

Manager should drive identification of opportunity for process improvement (re-engineering) and standardization towards ensuring efficient and consistent processes.

The role will also support the wider GFC team to implement key changes initiatives (such as IFRS 9), support application of accounting principles and regulations.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the teams responsible for Operational Accounting processes
  • Perform internal controls and review work prepared by the team
  • Supervise month-end closing process and consolidation activities
  • Supervise Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Supporting the in-country teams in the understanding and analysis of the financial data produced.
  • Working across departments to ensure provision of a consistent, joined- up view to the business partners.
  • Create an environment within the team which foster the free sharing of knowledge and ideas.
  • Ensure accuracy and data integrity in the end-to-end financial reporting process by ensuring compliance with the internal control requirements and assessing the adequacy in the changing environment.
Skills/Experience Required:
  • University degree in finance related discipline
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and IAS
  • Professional qualifications (CIMA/ACCA) will be a plus
  • Knowledge of Banking regulations will be a plus
  • Understanding of GL systems and reporting software
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel (VBA will be plus)
  • Minimum 7 years relevant accounting/reporting experience
  • Banking/Insurance/Financial Services industry experience will be an asset
  • Project management experience
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent Team management & leadership skills
  • Strong analytical ability, tenacity, and sound commercial judgment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be able to work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with people at all levels
