The GSA Planning, Budgeting and Financial Analysis (PBFA) team is seeking for a Finance Advisor to support the local PBFA teams in their task to provide excellent client service to key stakeholders and business partners from the Financial Services Organisation (FSO) in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

The opportunity

You will be part of the GSA Finance team and act as a finance professional providing critical thinking on business direction, operating performance and financial results. This role will establish a trusted relationship with our internal clients, understanding their needs and teaming with other finance team members to bring best in class analytical support, functional expertise and reporting solutions.

Your key responsibilities

  • You will assist FSO GSA leadership in all the processes the team lead to provide insights to the business: weekly and monthly performance reviews, Strategic and Financial planning processes, business modelling, ad hoc analysis

  • Your role will cover the P&L performance review but requires good knowledge about engagement, account and sector performance as well

  • It will involve explaining variances in performance compared to plan figures, both from a financial and business perspective

  • Deliver weekly and monthly performance reporting for respective business, adding insights, financial analysis and commentary. Maintain a robust month end reporting process, and ensure commentaries are timely, insightful and action oriented

  • Respond to requests from Finance and FSO Leadership to answer financial questions and provide insightful information to support leadership discussion and decision making. Support the design and delivery of ad hoc financial analysis. Ability to model projections, identify trends and issues.

  • Take part and lead planning/forecasting processes. Support the completion of various Plan, Forecast, Market Leadership Plan (MLP) and revenue planning cycles, ensure outputs align to the objectives set at the Regional, Area and Global levels

  • Understand performance outlook and key drivers impacting success

  • Support and assist the business in improving their insights into business performance

  • Take part in improvement projects aimed at processes, procedures and systems

  • Understand tools and reports available to provide efficient analysis and insight

Skills and attributes for success

  • Preferred candidates will have a master’s degree in finance, economics, business administration or similar combined with 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience in a finance capacity – preferably in an international organization or a professional services firm

  • Confident and able to build strong relationships at management/partner levels

  • Able to challenge and articulate opinions succinctly and persuasively

  • Commercial approach and ability to demonstrate clear business understanding

  • Proven analytical skills and strong attention to accuracy and detail

  • Proactive and self-sufficient working style with ability to prioritize and multitask whilst escalating as appropriate to prevent dilution of existing controls

  • Travel may be required based on business need

  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills for building financial reports and presentations

  • Knowledge of SAP and VBA is a plus

  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate financial information across a wide range of users

  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and work under pressure

  • Written and oral fluency in German and English required
