Your responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 10-12 accountants, including team leaders.

  • Responsible for the global month-end close schedule and its timely delivery to internal stakeholders.

  • Produce, review, and sign off on monthly Profit and Loss and performance analysis in relation to the budget.

  • Monthly/quarter office and cost line review with business owners and the efficiency and improvement of reporting.

  • Review of statutory balance sheets and working closely with the Group accountants to ensure regular Group control.

  • Control of the Group balance sheet including review of balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Work closely with the Financial Planning and Analysis team to deliver budget and forecast submissions for cost lines.

  • Input to / assist the Finance Systems team in developing and improving finance systems.

  • Responsible for risk assessment and applying appropriate controls.

  • Liaison with internal and external auditors, regulatory inspectors, and advisors for annual, interim and taxation audits and reviews relating to the functions.

  • Assist the Group Accounts team with external reporting, including subsidiary and branch financial statements.

  • Provide assistance and support to the Head of Tax for reporting, coding and submission of corporate and operational tax returns (payroll taxes, duties, VAT, corporation tax, etc.).

  • Authorization of payments to clients, brokers, suppliers, and cash management.

  • Proactively support strategic projects and change initiatives within the wider organisation e.g., acquisitions, new entities, new offices, new products, new departments.

  • Ad hoc analysis and reporting as required by senior business owners.

  • Management and continuous improvement of Financial Control processes and controls.

  • Ownership and maintenance of process documentation and end-user computing applications.

  • Business partnering with all stakeholders within the group-wide Finance community and the broader business who rely on the output of the Financial Control team.

  • 7 years financial control and management accounting experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of managerial experience.

  • Experience of working in an international Group and building relationships with stakeholders across countries.

  • Strong process and people manager.

  • Experience in reporting financial information under IFRS.

  • Post professional accounting qualification experience.

  • Development and improvement of accounting processes and controls.

  • Wide ranging financial and management accounting experience; production of management accounting information including: profit and loss statements; balance sheets; narratives; variance analysis.

  • Strong hands-on accounting skills; journal review; preparation of analyses; Balance Sheet controls and reconciliations; P&L and Balance Sheet ownership.

  • Attention to detail; meeting deadlines; taking ownership; delegation of responsibilities, and strong team ethos.

  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

  • Strong relationship building skills.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (including pivot tables, advanced formulas).

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting or related.

  • A professional accounting qualification or similar post-graduate qualification, for example an ACA, CIMA or ACCA will be an asset.

  • Fluent English speaker.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work unsupervised, showing initiative in identifying problems and posing solutions.

  • Ability to manage staff members of various seniority.
