About the project

Finance and Risk Innovation Programme exists to ensure that as a bank we increase speed to market, improving efficiency without compromising security. Leveraging exponential growth in technology will enable us to serve our customers in new ways and transform the way we operate. We collaborate to solve problems and constantly strive for improvement to enhance the Innovation Programme.

The role of the Frontend Developer is to work in a cross functional agile team developing, testing and deploying code to enhance the Innovation Programme.

Your responsibilities

  • Using the latest technologies, processes and tools to deliver state of the art web applications and innovation experiments (PoCs)

  • Be responsible for translating business requirements into robust, scalable and reusable solutions

  • Working as part of multi-disciplinary agile pods with other technical, creative and business roles

  • Participate in engineering discipline, best practice and standards compliance within Innovation Programme and HSBC IT

Our requirements

  • 3+ years’ commercial experience

  • The ideal candidates for this role will have expertise in the following:

  • JavaScript / react.js / jQuery / npm / CSS / Sass / Less / HTML 5 / bootstrap

  • Experience in consuming REST APIs and utilising JSON for web applications

  • CI/CD - tools such as Jenkins, Nexus

  • Version control and collaboration - GitHub

  • Knowledge is desirable, but not essential in the following:

  • Microsoft SharePoint 2013/Online – publishing features

  • Good working knowledge of cloud technologies like AWS, Azure and GCP

  • Agile methodologies – Scrum, Kanban

  • Agile Tooling – Jira, Confluence, Slack

Observance of Internal Controls

  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

  • Incumbent is an ‘insider’ for dealing purposes and subject to strict controls and confidentiality.

  • Complies with Group Finance Functional Instruction Manuals and Group SOX requirements and enforces reporting sites’ compliance with certain areas of the required internal controls.

  • The incumbent will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.

  • The incumbent will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.

  • This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.
