About the project

The role would suit someone who has a strong background in the full development stack, with a genuine interest in the frontend development. We are looking for people who are enthusiastic and willing to contribute on how we work and help evolve the technology we use.

You will be working as part of a small full-stack agile development team based in Edinburgh, who’s main technologies and frameworks include dotNet, C#, VueJs, Angular, Umbraco CMS, Jenkins, Agile, API’s, Service-Oriented-Architecture, SQL.

The projects and systems that the teams are involved in have a high exposure to either our customers, reservations departments, online travel partners and agents and are highly business critical.

You will ideally have gained solid experience as a Full Stack Developer with commercial experience participating in the design and development phases of Enterprise Applications.

We have a broad technology stack, with a focus on Microsoft technology, therefore experience with or a genuine interest to deepen dotNet knowledge is a big plus.

Your responsibilities

  • Active participation in the design and development (coding) of web applications, services and systems.

  • Investigate and fix issues in software deployed to production system.

  • Follow agile development principles pragmatically: continuous integration, refactoring, peer reviews, TDD, knowledge sharing, etc.

  • Make use of the appropriate software standards, techniques, patterns, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle.

  • Provision of technical documentation where required.

  • Peer-review solution designs proposed by other teams.

  • Pro-active refactoring of the existing code base where required.

  • Provide technical assistance to the application support team.

  • Assist with the ongoing refinement of development and delivery methodologies.

  • Setup and manage automated builds/pipelines.

  • Look after and improve Web Analytics setup

Our requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken (eng)

  • Good software development skills using: MVC, REST API, dotNet, C#, RAZOR/MVVM/MVC, SQL, Front End/UX; HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript.

  • Experience of developing high performance, robust high-quality software.

  • A well-organized team player, able to manage multiple tasks and priorities in parallel.

  • Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban or Lean).

  • Agile engineering practices (BDD, TDD, CI, peer reviews, refactoring, etc.)

  • Good understanding of Object-Oriented design, SOLID principles and design patterns.

  • Experience in Git, GitHub, BitBucket or other DVCS.

  • Continuous Integration; (Jenkins, TeamCity).

  • Preferred experience using modern UI technologies (Vue.js, Angular etc.)

  • In addition, any of the following skills would be of great advantage: Umbraco CMS or a comparable CMS, CSS tools/frameworks, SASS, Web Analytics, i.e. Google Analytics, Page Speed analysis and improvements
