Your responsibilities

  • Develops / optimizes category strategies and derives long term strategic plans for agreed scope of spend area; including the delivery of savings objectives as well as broader value objectives

  • Works with all relevant stakeholders in the procurement network to ensure a fully integrated and customer-aligned AZ-wide category plan

  • Collaborates closely with the Director of HR & Prof. Services Categories, Regional Category Managers and AZ’s broader Procurement network as well as stakeholders to deliver category strategy implementation

  • Oversees implementation of category plans to ensure that the underpinning process improvement and procurement activities deliver the expected business value in accordance with the strategic plans

  • Provides leadership strategic relationship management (customer and supplier) - to ensure that Category Strategies are highly aligned to current and future Business need and that the supply base is capable of supporting these strategies

  • Works alongside AstraZeneca’s GPS organization in Warsaw (Global Procurement Services) advising on and driving procurement strategies to make decisions necessary to purchase products and services in congruence with organizational objectives

  • Coordinates the introduction of new and modified services with appropriate departments

  • Analyses and resolves issues raised in procurement audit reports

  • Advises on contracts and agreements for the supply of complex services with new and existing suppliers

  • Develops, evaluates or manages internal and external relationships with suppliers and other cross-functional teams

Our requirements

  • Degree level or equivalent qualifications

  • Significant experience in similar environment at a manager level

  • Project management, change management and people management skills

  • Technical expertise in across the whole lifecycle of Procurement activities

  • Communication skills and ability to influence others

  • Teamwork focused and relationship builder: Works well with others, across departments, levels and cultures

  • Comfort with risk and ambiguous situations

  • Intercultural awareness

  • Proficiency in Procurement and other business-related systems, e.g. ERP, Ariba, Jaggaer, Coupa.

Optional

  • Extensive experience in project management

  • Experience in either a global, regional or local category management role

  • Experience of working in a complex matrix organization

  • Experience in the categories in scope

JOB ROLE

The role sits on the Global Indirect & Enabling Categories Management team, reporting to the Director of HR & Professional Services, engaging with a network of Global and Regional Category Managers for the categories under its responsibility and coordinating with the Business. It is sitting within AstraZeneca’s category procurement network and will be ensuring strong and collaborative relationships are built and maintained to define the category strategies and lead the category plans’ execution. This role will be focused on a set of HR Services categories, such as Employee Benefits.
