Product Controller – Associate

The Commodities Product Control team consists of ~30 professionals supporting more than 90 traders globally. The businesses comprise of Gas, Oil, Precious/Base Metals, Agricultural and cross-product trading. 
 
The trading books operate across 3 locations and time zones (London, Singapore and New York) requiring extensive interaction with key stakeholders including Front Office, Business Management, Financial Control and Operations in all locations.   
 
The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of derivative products, combined with financial reporting experience and a strong control mindset. This role offers a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to enhance their understanding of the Commodities business along with related financial, regulatory and treasury aspects. In addition, this role provides a significant scope for intra-firm networking coupled with exposure to senior personnel.  
 
Responsibilities:
  • Produce daily P&L and Risk Packs for the Trading desk, understanding the Greeks and Legal Entity reporting;
  • Explain and understand any P&L residuals;
  • Client Value and Portfolio Management analysis;
  • Some month-end involvement including understanding GL vs Linesheet differences and Balance Sheet Analysis.
Specific skills and experience required:
  • 4+ years of relevant experience required in accounting or finance;
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent  - essential, preferably in finance or related area;
  • Good accounting and finance knowledge;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – MS Excel, MS Access, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to critically review and challenge numbers;
  • Effective communication, analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Flexibility to work under pressure to meet changing work requirements and strict deadlines;
  • Flexible towards extended working hours at month end; working towards US calendar;
  • Previous Commodities and/or Product Control experience beneficial but not essential.
