Your responsibilities

  • Strategy Development

  • Working with the Senior Management Team, Marketing and Customer Services teams the Head of Business Development will lead the development and execution of the Europe and CIS strategy in line with the Cambridge English Global and Ro-EMEA regional growth plan.

  • Aligning the Country Managers to work cohesively to achieve our ambitious growth plans, you will foster a one-team approach, encouraging the sharing of best practice, whilst maximising the commercial footprint in EMEA, as you cultivate and build on the individual successes in each region.

  • Business Planning and Operations

  • With overall accountability for the business development function, you will deliver on revenue growth targets within agreed budgets, and be accountable for the account revenues. Documenting detailed business development plans for each territory or key accounts as appropriate, you will take ownership of the sales funnel from prospect to account acquisition and growth, through effective management of the in-Country Managers.

  • People Management and Development

  • Providing inspiring leadership to the Europe Business Development Teams, you will be a natural collaborator and have a genuine open management style. Ensuring your team have clear direction and perform to the highest standards, you will have demonstrable experience of building high performing teams in Europe. Ensuring all team members are supported and developed, have clear job descriptions, goals and regular one-to-one meetings, you will work with them to maximise their personal performance levels and behaviours.

  • Relationship Development

  • Accountable for the development of relationships with key stakeholders in the regions, ranging from institutions, government and exam centres, ensuring Cambridge English qualifications gain maximum recognition in the region. Working with colleagues in Customer Services to manage the complex channels and centres relationships in ways that optimise revenues and contribution, you will be focused on maintaining highest standards of integrity. As an ambassador for Cambridge English in the region – this will involve developing specialist knowledge about our markets, education, assessment and the wider-educational landscape.

  • Data Reporting & Analysis

  • Working with UK-based Operation and Products colleagues to deliver profitable, market- appropriate assessment wins, you will ensure accurate budgeting and reporting of regional financial information. Developing and maintaining your specialist knowledge about our markets, education, assessment and the wider-educational landscape, you will provide market and competitive insights that will contribute to the development of new products, solutions and services

Our requirements

  • We are looking for someone who can introduce new clients whilst maintaining and maximising our existing client base. With a drive to innovate for improvement you will have evidence of the below requirements.

  • Extensive senior sales management experience within the Europe and CIS region

  • Building senior relationships

  • Negotiating high value contracts

  • Strategical Sales Biz Development

  • Leading and building high performing business development teams across multiple geographies and markets

  • Strong analytical skills to identify team trends and patterns to drive results.

  • Demonstrated track record of increasing revenue through generation of leads

  • Ability to drive digital transformation on the sales team by leveraging tools to facilitate sales

  • Demonstrated success in shifting sales team strategy, mind-set, culture, process and focus on sales

  • Working in a B2B context

  • Knowledge of educational systems and assessment

We have an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused and ambitious Head of Business Development, to expand and implement our business development strategy for the Europe region (excluding Spain & Portugal and Italy).

We’re looking for someone with the experience and confidence to tackle a mature and highly competitive assessment market of schools and universities, with the goal of ensuring continued high growth in European markets.

Based at home, from within a European country in which we have an entity to hire, we are open to flexible working arrangements. Post-Covid there is likely to be some travel, approximately 3-4 times a year, to the regions for which your team of Country Managers are responsible (Greece and Cyprus, UK and Ireland, East Europe, France and DACH, Benelux and North Europe and CIS - Russia).
