We are looking for a highly motivated person with strong organizational skills to head the newly developed cell and biological properties laboratory located in Wrocław, Poland.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Defining the research and service potential of the laboratory, in line with the research area strategy.
• Observation of global scientific trends in the field of research and enriching the laboratory's offer with new services
• Development, implementation and management of detailed procedures and methods to be employed in the laboratory.
• Organization of work within the laboratory, including preparation, keeping, storage, and circulation of proper laboratory documentation
• Supervision of the laboratory staff with the proper assessment of the performance and proper care of the social and friendly working atmosphere within the team
• Training and improvement of the professional qualifications of the laboratory employees
• Managing laboratory budget and participation in the purchase of the reagents and laboratory equipment.
• Supervision over laboratory equipment and management of the safety of people and equipment within the laboratory.
• Compliance with legal regulations
Our requirements
- PhD in biology / biotechnology / biochemistry / biophysics.
- Experience in working in a similar position.
- Knowledge of the functional analysis of proteins (experience in the study of protein-protein / protein-ligand interactions) by various laboratory techniques, e.g. ELISA, ITC, SPR).
- Practical knowledge of molecular biology methods.
- Experience in performing cell experiments (e.g. proliferation, cytotoxicity, apoptosis).
- In vitro cell culture skills.
- Experience in the field of flow cytometry (cell analyzers, sorter) both as an operator and in the preparation of material for research.
- Practical knowledge of DNA / RNA analysis techniques, i.e. sequencing, genotyping.
- Ability to conduct scientific notation, prepare reports and presentations describing the experiences.
- The ability to qualify and validate analytical methods will be an asset.
- Experience in team management.
- Well-developed skills: planning and time management.
- Focus on the quality of work.
- Very good command of the English language enabling easy communication and reading of industry literature.

Łukasiewicz Research Network – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development is a Research Institute within the Łukasiewicz Research Network. It focuses on development of new technologies, resulting from basic and applied research performed at the Institute in the areas of biotechnology and materials engineering. These technologies, in turn, serve as a basis for innovative solutions for the corresponding industries. The Center is located on a historical campus of Pracze in Wroclaw in Southwestern Poland. It currently employs more than 250 scientists and support staff in four Centers: Materials Science and Engineering, Life Sciences and Biotechnology, Population Diagnostics and BioBank.
