    Head of Financial Control (French)
    Location: Kraków

    Lead Financial Control function for Europe countries, responsible for end to end Financial Control processes and relationship management with stakeholders ensuring quality of financial accounting, reports and analysis, optimizing process efficiency within a consistent governance framework.

    • Manage Operational Accounting activities to ensure all financial and regulatory deadlines onshore are met.
    • Form close working relationships with Partnering & Insight and Governance & Control, to support finance to add financial value to reporting and influence business decision making.
    • Drive projects responsible for streamlining, optimizing and standardizing financial processes, delivering efficiency saves per target
    • Influence regional finance strategic decision making, leveraging strong relationships across HSBC Finance. Lead a large team and function being organizationally re-structured
    • The job holder must be able to effectively multi-task and prioritize
    • Respond to enquiries from bank employees representing various functions and levels
    • Ensure compliance with FIM requirements and group procedures

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Maintain quality outputs of large teams through implementation of suitable check and review structure – defining KPI structure in collaboration with onshore teams
    • Facilitate the review of plans and budgets for associated entities with senior management teams
    • Utilize deep subject matter expertise in markets or products, to influence the strategy of a global function
    • Review and manage key controls, escalating to senior management any significant control deficiencies
    • Develop and communicate a powerful and compelling vision that inspires and engages people with the HSBC Values and goals as the basis of an inclusive, high performance, customer-centred culture
    • Lead, develop and motivate the leadership team to attract, retain and develop the capacity, capability and talent to provide for succession and ensure delivery of business objectives
    • Set expectations, share best practice and manage, monitor, coach and develop leaders and others to ensure that they maximize their performance, meet the required standards, and continuously develop their capabilities and experience
    • Work closely with in-country Finance Business Partners to communicate the key drivers of the “story behind the numbers” and impact on the business
    • Maintain relationships with senior internal and external auditors, to oversee a thorough and beneficial audit process
    • Participate in Finance governance meetings with various Senior Finance stakeholders



    • Qualified accountant or relevant university degree
    • At least 7 years of experience in financial accounting, reporting or audit
    • In-depth knowledge of the banks systems/structures
    • Knowledge of Basel II /III
    • In-depth knowledge of financial principles (IFRS), financial accounting and control
    • In-depth knowledge of central bank regulations and legal issues concerning performed duties
    • Knowledge of other European language (French or Spanish) will be a plus
    • Excellent French and English (written and verbal)


    • At least 7 years of experience management of finance teams (ideally Financial Services or Banking)
    • Experience of External and Regulatory reporting


    • Confidence to communicate and build strong relationships with finance staff at all levels of the Group
    • Very good knowledge of MS Office (in particular Excel and preferable VBA)
    • Strong analytical ability, tenacity, and sound commercial judgment
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Be able to work independently and meet tight deadlines
    • Demonstrate the ability to work with people at all levels
