Your responsibilities

  • Manage a local HR team for a country programme

  • Assist with the analysis of HR needs of a programme and look for sustainable solutions. Provide a generalist HR service to managers across a full range of HR issues

  • Handle and advise on complex people management issues

  • Monitor and review the impact and effectiveness of HR management interventions

  • Work with programme management and local HR to review staffing structures, grading and job profiles

  • Develop and strengthen HR systems, policy and practice in key HR areas such as recruitment, induction, training, performance management and staff care

  • Provide operational HR support with local recruitment, induction, discipline and grievance issues

  • Make use of all available policy, practice, checklists and guidelines (HR minimum standards, HR toolkits) and ensure Save the Children good practice is in place

  • Being the trusted partner of the Regional Human Resources Director and the Country Office team on HR operations activities ensuring compliance with local laws

  • Alongside the HR Team, ensure a high quality value added HR service to the Country Office and continuously seek improvements to service delivery

  • Capacity develop the HR team ensuring they contribute to the objectives

  • Assist with the strategic HR direction and support to the country programme and local HR team

  • Continually analyse the HR support needs of the Country Office and look for immediate and sustainable solutions (e.g. drawing on regional resources, other in-country staff, the Global Roster, hiring talent, building existing capacity)

  • Develop the HR strategy, plans and implementation.

  • Coordinate Regional and Country Office HR Quality assurance and reporting, ensuring the Save the Children Management Standards is in place and implemented across the Country Office.

  • Ensure HR policy and procedures are in place and implemented by the Country Office

  • Ensure the right systems and processes are in place for recruitment, orientation and induction, compensation and benefit management, performance management and staff development.

  • Ensure compliance of Country Programmes to the Save the Children Quality standards and building country programme’s capacity to adhere to the standards. Quality assurance and compliance across Country Offices.

  • Acting as a conduit between the Country Offices and Regional Office regarding improving systems and process in HR management adding value to the transaction in both directions

  • In collaboration with the Regional HR Director and HR counterparts plan, coordinate and implement training programs such as the Senior Management Development Program, Managing for High Performance and technical training

  • Establishing coaching and capability development programmes for Country Office HR team

  • Leading on cross country support, exchange of lessons learnt, potential centres of expertise and potential areas for job swapping, peer coaching etc.

  • Coordinating potential areas for job swapping, temporary assignments and other recruitment opportunities.

  • In collaboration with the RHRD and center comp and benefit ensure international offers are as per SCI standards and the payroll information from Country office to Regional/Center HR is as per the standard and timely

  • Coordinate with the country office and establish orientation/induction and exit briefings for humanitarian deployments.

  • Work with the employment law advisers in giving support on employee relations and overall employment law advice.

  • Coordinate and give advice on the national staff benefit for emergency responses

  • Coordinating potential areas for job swapping, temporary assignments and other recruitment opportunities to enhance Country Office’s capacity in both development and emergency programs

  • Ensure the establishment of a complete & quality data base system across the country offices using HRIS to effectively manage the staffing updates to be used by the country office for all occasions and especially for emergency scenarios.

Our requirements

  • Substantial work experience in Human Resources and/or a relevant degree in human resource management

  • Technical skills in most if not all aspects of human resource management with a focus on Recruitment and Selection, Learning and Development, Performance Management, Compensation and Benefits and HR Policies

  • Ability to deal with a range of complex local/regional employment issues

  • Considerable experience of learning and development and delivery of training interventions

  • Previous human resources experience in an international organization/company

  • Cross-cultural experience, understanding and sensitivity

  • Excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills

  • Computer literate, with high degree of proficiency and productivity

  • Ability to work comfortably and effectively, either at own initiative or under direction

  • Fluency in both Polish and English, written and spoken

  • Commitment to Save the Children values

  • Desirable: Previous HR experience in INGOs is preferable.
