Lead on technical proposal for HVAC enquiries.
Lead on projects from concept and detailed design through to providing design support during installation and commissioning.
Carry out HVAC design load calculations.
Write detailed specifications of the systems and components, to align with the client specifications and in accordance with any class rules.
Prepare the system/components test procedures and write technical reports.
Conduct site visits and site surveys if necessary.
Meet with clients and project stakeholders during the project lifecycle.
Carry out work in accordance with all health and safety requirements and adhere to safe working practices.
Identifying new products or technologies enabling differentials for Johnson Controls in the market.
Proposing alterative design philosophies and/or arrangements to reduce energy consumption, install costs and through life maintenance costs.
Provide technical review of OEM designs to ensure their compliance to our client requirements prior to manufacture.
Lead and nurture junior designers.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent team working skills.
The ability to prioritise engineering decisions.
Degree qualified – Mechanical Engineering or HVAC or Refrigeration.
General knowledge about fluid dynamics, heat transfer, air conditioning system.
At least 3-5 years lead design experience in HVAC or Mechanical Systems design.
Good skills in using AutoCAD 2D and 3D and/or Inventor.
Good skills in Using Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Power Point.

We are designing, supplying, and commissioning sophisticated systems on OPVs, Mine Hunters, Submarines and Aircraft Carrier in a variety of countries. We are recruiting for an experienced Design Engineer to join the HVAC Design team located in Basildon. As an experienced Design Engineer, you will lead on design work and help nurture junior designers.
