Your responsibilities

  • Provide support to ORR Heads & Accountable Chief Risk Officers in providing review, challenge and oversight of the end to end risk and control environment and support the development and embedding of practices across the team.

  • Provide independent review across end-to-end services, looking at the documentation of the supporting processes and the owners understanding of the risk and control environment and resilience.

  • Develop and manage stakeholder relationships with ORR and Business and Functional stakeholders.

  • Provide oversight of the end-to-end business services, including overall risk and control environments, to ensure completeness and accuracy.

  • Managing deliverables to an agreed schedule and plan

  • Coordinating with teams across the 1LoD and 2LoD to inform the overall assessment

  • Confirm that the repository of mapped business services is complete, in line with processes deemed in-scope for relevant commitments

  • Review that risk metrics are appropriate within the context of services, and that process or service owners are measuring the right aspects of their process with the right MI at the right frequency

  • Confirm that the end-to-end service map, including supporting processes, is accurate and complete in relation to the operation of the process, and the detail required to adequately monitor this

  • Opine on Risk Stewards’ review to ensure that the material risks and controls, including third party and technology, associated with the service are complete and accurate and support the overall resilience of the service

  • Opine on whether the Business Service Owner’s assessment of end-to-end control effectiveness and resilience for safe growth (where applicable) is aligned to the evidence available, including review of material trigger events

  • Support consistent and insightful reporting and escalation of issues identified through ORR Second Line of Defense opinion papers

  • Participation in governance, review / opine on and challenge adequacy of governance over Important Business Services

Our requirements

  • Demonstrable experience of assurance / audit activities and techniques, or 2LOD stewardship for one or more of the ORR risk types.

  • Deep understanding of Risk Management Framework and Non-Financial Risks, including sound understanding / knowledge of technology and cyber risks

  • Relevant external financial services qualification (e.g. CIA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, CISA).

  • Experience in developing and deploying automated testing and data analytics techniques.

  • Experience of process mapping and delivering professional reports and presentations gained within a financial services organisation or audit/consulting practice.

  • Ability to foster relationships whilst providing adequate challenge and effecting change.

  • Experience utilising assurance automation and analytics tools preferred.

  • Fluent in both oral and written English.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

About the role

Global Operational and Resilience Risk (ORR) is a sub function of Group Risk. The role will be responsible for the provisioning of subject matter expertise to support Chief Risk Officers and ORR Heads to discharge their responsibilities in relation to providing an independent review across end-to-end services. This will include reviewing, challenging and guidance to the business and functions (risk and control owners) on processes; and ensuring owners understand of the risk and control environment and resilience.
