As an INTERNAL AUDITOR the primary purpose of the role is to conduct internal audits across the Group, working in partnership with the businesses through delivering effective and pragmatic recommendations with a continuous improvement approach. Undertaking a wide range of process, team and operational audits, focusing in particular on high risk areas, the role will work closely with senior stakeholders in providing independent and objective assurance and adding value to Praesidiad.

The role may involve travel with Praesidiad’s offices located in the US, Europe, South Africa and the Middle East.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS POSITION:

  • Devising and implementing the requirements of a group-wide Internal Audit Plan;
  • Undertaking process, departmental and operational audits focusing in particular on high risk areas and ensuring the successful and timely completion of the reviews, from initial scoping and planning through to reporting and follow up of actions and recommendations;
  • Building trust and credibility with stakeholders throughout the audit process;
  • Liaising with all areas of the business to provide assurance with respect to existing processes and ensure financial integrity of new process implementations;
  • Evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal accounting procedures, operating systems and existing controls;
  • Making recommendations for improvements in controls and procedures around areas of identified weaknesses and ensuring the necessary improvements are implemented through a process of follow up audits;
  • Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards; and
  • Outside the Internal Audit Plan conduct specific ad-hoc transactional reviews around expenses, authorisations and other projects as required.
  • Assisting with ad-hoc projects including M&A related analysis and others.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years audit experience (internal or external) with a knowledge of audit procedures, including test and sample methods used to conduct audits;
  • A recognised accountancy, audit or business qualification to degree standard;
  • Ability to evaluate and determine the adequacy of controls by analysing business risks and to prepare and present concise oral and written reports;
  • An ability to establish and retain effective working relationships and to communicate clearly and effectively, both written and orally;
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work methodically and with focus;
  • A flexible, commercial and pragmatic approach;
  • Advanced computer skills around Excel, Word, PowerPoint, accounting software and databases;
  • International mindset with experience in multi-lingual, multicultural teams is a must; and
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, additional European languages are a strong plus.
