Contribute in International Trade Compliance strategies and provide guidance and strategic support to Managers and colleagues that helps reduce risk and exposure from compliance violations for importing and exporting activities in the UK, Dubai & Turkey.
Responsibilities of this position include the analysis of Company Industrial and Retails products, spices, flavours, seasonings and batter/ breader systems to determine origin and the status under various Trade Treaties and preference programmes that allow us to take advantage of reduced costs and duty savings.
Services multiples businesses to include international locations (Retail and Industrial in the UK, Dubai & Turkey)
Ability to maintain and manage communications with Legal departments (internal and external) and government agencies such as Customs, Rural Payment Agencies, Port Health, Department of Agriculture and Freight Forwarders to ensure that any exposure to financial or legal risk is considered as part of International Trade.
Provide back-up & coverage when necessary to Snr Director- Global Trade Compliance, in terms of operational International Trade Compliance processes for EMEA McCormick locations.
Liase with EMEA Technical, Regulatory and Data team to review formulas to determine origin, HTS classification and legal control which reduces risk to the Corporation.
Support Inter-company issues and serves as a liaison with supply chain team.
Manage and conduct Import and Export Audits in the UK in accordance with guidelines set by the Director- Global Trade Compliance. Conduct business meetings on critical areas and put measurements in place that address non-compliance.
Create and update appropriate information in GTS and SAP to enable the order management process and shipment of materials for export runs smoothly.
Manage and provide training to the business on International Trade Compliance matters that ensure compliance and maintain ‘best practice’ that reduces exposure to fines and penalties.
Manage and have complete responsibility for all data processes for International Trade Compliance on all Lotus Notes Tools ( NPC, RMN, MMDCR and C/S) in the UK.
Analyse Import/Export compliance regulations and provide plan or actions steps for implementation as necessary and liaise with import teams in UK and Turkey.
Ensure updated knowledge with regards to International Trade Compliance regulations (Trade Journals)
Recommend actions and activities to meet current issues and liaise with import team. Recommendations need to be tightly linked with Corporate legal, outside legal counsel, between divisions and/or with other functions.
Responsibility for supporting business in required country specific documentation to execute export transactions and liaise with import team.
Recommend and scope process improvements to Snr Director- Global Trade Compliance to ensure that the business is compliant and legal.
Provide support to Auditors and Compliance Managers in integrating Internal Audit processes into organisation for Export and liaise with Import team.
Manage and conduct product registration/consularisation as required from the business.
Liase and support Technical and Regulatory on processes to support exportation of materials compliantly to various countries.
Graduate/ Degree level including 3/4 years of higher education, qualification in International Business Major Technical, Food science, Chemistry or related field.
3 years minimum of experience in International Trade, Import, Export activity.
Experience in export/import regulations and US/EU Customs and compliance are required.
3+ years food industry experience would be preferred (prior knowledge in areas of seasonings, flavourings, and /or spices).
3+ years’ experience in ERP, SAP & information systems
Fluency in English (another European language would be beneficial),
French will be an asset,
The role involves occasional travelling within Europe
Ability in implementing relevant processes & influences others in order to ensure understanding & compliance.
Ability in conducting analyses and understands diverse information.
Good verbal and written communication- able to communicate up, down and across. Request some written work or be shown some writing skills and verbal reasoning test.

Good Numerical skills – able to breakdown the data and analyse. Have the ability to calculate effect of change.
