The British Embassy in Poland is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for an Investment Analyst – Europe Central, to be part of the Department for International Trade (DIT) team in Poland.

The Department for International Trade (DIT) is the British government’s international economic department. The UK and Central Europe are long-standing trade and investment partners. In 2018, the UK remained the number one investment destination in Europe with total investment of £573bn by the EU. This is an existing position as part of a dynamic, goal oriented Europe Central FDI team focusing on driving foreign direct investment to the UK from Central Europe. The Investment Analyst in Warsaw will focus on supporting the team in promotion and delivery of investments from markets across the entire region.

The combination of the economic and political backdrop offers the right candidate an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering DIT strategy in one of our fastest growing and important markets.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Lead generation: research and identify potential investors into the UK from Central Europe, mainly through desk research using various databases, digital lead generation and media monitoring.
  • Macro analysis: keep up to date with market developments, new investment products and all other areas that can affect the markets, e.g. changes in economic conditions of relevant countries;
  • Event management: take a leading role in event management initiatives (such as networking events, meeting programmes, senior officials’ visits and commercial missions) both across the region and in the UK promoting the UK as an attractive investment destination, including: activity planning, liaising with partner organisations, researching/negotiating with suppliers, budget monitoring, managing invitations and replies, providing support on-site and developing PR/social media activity;
  • Activity reporting: monitor pipeline on internal CRM system to ensure timely and appropriate actions are taken. Produce monthly project status reports and undertake appropriate follow up action on projects in pursuit of achieving the team objectives.
  • Investment support: accompany inward missions and attend international trade events representing the team and work closely with UK based colleagues on individual investment projects;
  • Digital marketing: produce and publish relevant content on the team’s digital and social media channels, in line with our communications strategy;
  • Cross-team collaboration: support the wider DIT team with briefings and information for high level visitors, events and meetings related to investment activities in Poland and Central Europe;
  • Logistics: carry our other administrative tasks and provide cover and assistance to the team leader and other colleagues when required.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience

  • A College / university level degree in a relevant area or equivalent experience;
  • minimum 3 years of business development / commercial experience;
  • Availability for travel domestically and internationally;
  • Proficient English language skills (both oral and written, minimum C1 level*);
  • Proficient in Polish language skills (both oral and written, minimum C1 level*);
  • Advanced IT skills including capabilities in digital marketing, digital project management, and MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.


Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

  • Experience of working in either the IT/digital, Business Services or Financial Services sectors;
  • Digital marketing, business development or previous inward investment experience;
  • Good project management, resourcefulness and ability to work on your own;
  • Ability to bring diverse teams together to work toward common goals;
  • Strategic commercial and economic awareness, ability to build relationships with senior business management;
  • An innovative attitude especially towards customer service and performance management;
  • Excellent communication skills, networking and social media, especially LinkedIn.
Other benefits and conditions of employment

This is a full-time position of 5 days (37.5 net per week) for 2 years with a possibility for extension.

The gross salary for this position is PLN 8,216 per month. The start date is 4 January 2021.

Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by the local law.
The successful candidate will be subject to the Polish references check and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months.

Candidates must have pre-existing right to live and work in Poland for the duration of the job offer in order to apply. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Warsaw are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to Polish employment law. The annual leave entitlement is 20 or 26 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Polish / UK public holidays per year.

Visa / passport requirements: must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Poland and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. Additional requirements may become necessary after 31st December 2020.
