About the project

Monitoring the activities of traders is an external regulatory requirement to ensure fair and open trading operations are maintained and this is captured within the Bank’s operational policies and procedures.

Surveillance IT are responsible for the technical implementation of Regulatory Compliance Surveillance tooling covering Trade Surveillance, Audio Surveillance, Electronic Communications Surveillance and supporting services all of which process data for staff members covered under the Bank’s policies as requiring surveillance.

Our clients are internal users from the Regulatory Compliance function, who are responsible for the definition of surveillance techniques and models, the review and escalation of alerts, and the management of any subsequent investigations and reports into suspicious activity.

The Surveillance IT Trade Surveillance team is truly global, with team-members in the USA (PM’s, Analyst Developers), the UK (PM’s, BA’s, Developers), Poland (Scrum Masters, BA’s, Developers, QA’s) and India (PM’s, Scrum Masters, BA’s, Developers, QA’s).

Your responsibilities

  • Analysis and documentation of functional specifications and acceptance criteria that support a business outcome

  • Acceptance of features implemented by a development team on behalf Change Management

  • Create logical and innovative solutions to complex problems

  • Work closely with stakeholders, developers, architects and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction

  • Specification and documentation of surveillance data requirements to a standard which would bear scrutiny by an internal audit or external regulators

  • The Identification, analysis and validation of multiple data elements including Trade, News and Market data sources

  • The participation in testing cycles, working with the System Testers to ensure adequate test scripts have been built and run, assisting users with acceptance testing

  • Initiate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and business contacts

  • Assisting in the training of key business users

  • Leading, facilitating and participation in meetings / workshops at the direction of the Trade Surveillance Programme Manager and/or Surveillance IT Project Manager

  • Peer Review of BA team artefacts when required to ensure consistency and quality standards

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars), internal control standards and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group’s standards of ethical behaviour

  • Following the HSBC Risk-Based Project Management methodology, adhering to production of all necessary documentation

Our requirements

  • Extensive data analysis, data mapping, functional and technical business analysis experience (Minimum 5 years+) working at a Tier 1 investment bank

  • Proven, significant and demonstrable experience of analysing and documenting business requirements for global applications

  • Practical experience in functional analysis and design, utilising different methodologies i.e. Use Cases, Business Process Modelling within an Agile Project environment

  • Proven, significant and demonstrable experience of following a structured approach to analysis, including the preparation of all related artefacts (e.g. functional system specifications, data feed specifications, etc.)

  • Excellent Markets knowledge across a range of products: FX; FXO; Energy; Metals; Equities; Equity Derivatives; Fixed Income; Futures

  • Excellent Front to Back (full) Trade Lifecycle knowledge

  • Strong technical written communication skills

  • Excellent knowledge of the project lifecycle and application development process including best practice methodologies

Optional

  • Experience in trade surveillance, regulatory reporting and market abuse.

  • Familiarity with ETL frameworks

  • Previous exposure to the NICE Actimize or Trading Hub trade surveillance applications, or similar competitor offerings

  • Relevant Industry knowledge: Risk; Fraud; Compliance; Regulatory

  • Font Office IT experience

  • Middle Office IT experience: Product Control; Operations

  • Previous experience of working within both Agile & Traditional development teams

  • Ability to work under pressure to exacting deadlines
