About the project
The person filling the IT SME – Cyber Security (Cyber Security Automation Engineer) role will join 3M’s world-class Information Security, Risk and Compliance organization as part of a team focused on the ongoing design, implementation, and support of 3M’s Cyber Security Incident Response. You will help automate day to day operational tasks, related to monitoring and responding to security threats and risks and integrate them into our orchestration platform. Candidate must be adaptable, and demonstrate the ability to understand, assess and implement new technologies. Strong organizational, document management, and communication skills required. Big picture thinking coupled with deep security knowledge and the ability to perform hands-on engineering tasks. Able to understand and solve business problems while managing associated risks and compliance requirements.
Your responsibilities
- Work within the Threat Detection & Response team to review automation needs.
- Design and code automation tasks as stand-alone solutions or as part of a bigger service.
- Collaborate with the CSOC analysts on tuning or developing automation.
- Integrate security solutions into the CSOC’s orchestration platform.
- Identify requirements for partners and providers APIs for better interconnectivity.
- Perform tool maintenance updates and upgrades as assigned.
- Present technical information in non-technical terms to peers and management.
- Analyzing, debugging, reporting issues and enhancements.
- Tuning to reduce or eliminate false positives.
- Provide documentation of all rules, content, and workflow integrated with the system.
- Provide training to global team members on the rules, content and workflows.
- Fostering a clear understanding of business direction and strategy to help drive content decisions within the SOAR and Open Source Platforms.
- Gathering, analyzing, understanding and applying contextual and business information supporting the function of the 3M Information Security Risk & Compliance Security Operation Center.
- Constantly seek and identify opportunities for automation and new tools usage.
Our requirements
- University Degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5+ years working within information security.
- 3-4 years working on developing software, scripts or microservices that enable process automation.
- Experience working with RESTful APIs.
- Proficiency on working with Python or C#, PowerShell, SQL, RegEx.
- Strong analysis and design skills with the ability to devise creative technical solutions.
- Ability to convey a strong presence, professional image, and deal confidently with complex technical problems.
- Understanding of Linux and Windows.
- Fluent in speaking and writing English.
Optional
- Experience using GitLab or Github as part of the CI/CD process.
- Experience with cloud serverless offerings (e.g. AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
- Experience with Service Desk ticketing process and tools.
- Experience with SIEM administration and content development.
- Understanding of Automation Orchestration frameworks.
- Knowledge of security analytics.
- Experience integrating new log sources and data correlation rules.
- Strong problem solving, analytical, technical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Professional certifications to include CEH, CISSP, etc.
