Your responsibilities

  • You will start as a generalist (junior) analyst conducting research and analysis covering a broad range of topics across various sectors and business functions in the first 3-6 months. Gradually you will specialize in the area of energy transition and greenhouse gas emission reduction.

  • You will initially work alongside experienced content experts. On client projects, you will apply proprietary tools and methodologies and follow a data-driven approach to solve the most challenging sustainability problems out there. This can take you from designing a bottom-up decarbonization plan of a specific industrial site to creating macroscopic energy outlooks through to 2050 on the impact of different climate policies.

  • Additionally, you will be developing assets, knowledge, and tools within the field of sustainability. Within time you will be encouraged to develop into a world-class expert acting as a thought partner to McKinsey senior leadership and our clients.

  • This position will give you the opportunity to work in an ambitious, stimulating, and international professional environment. You will receive support through on-the-job coaching and training program.

Our requirements

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a technical field. Quantitative study background in engineering, physics or equivalent (good understanding of thermodynamics is an asset)

  • Strong interest in climate change and sustainability topics

  • Ambition to work in a fast-paced, result-oriented team and company, with steep learning curve and strong commitment to coaching and development

  • Enthusiasm to work in a start-up environment, with agile digital product-development, in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team

  • Superior problem-solving skills

  • Advanced Excel capabilities, comfortable working with numbers and quantitative models. Additional experience with programming tools such as Plexos Times/Markal, and languages such as VBA, Python or R are a plus

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, and to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in English is required, any additional language capability is considered as an asset

You will be joining an international team of 20+ analysts focusing on a variety of business domains.
