To lead Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) rules and practices to ensure the safety of self and others. To promote and encourage pro-active approach in EHS culture within Lab shift team, to provide feedback for all breaches of the EHS requirements.
To set and to review the objectives to all Laboratory Analysist team members as per JM career development policies.
To develop Laboratory Analysist team’s talents, to manage their personal development, performance, motivation and engagement. To make sure effective communication is in place and constructive feedback is used in terms of increasing Lab shift team’s skills and competencies.
To liaise with other BMK departments within shift pattern for laboratory analysis to meet Customer requirements.
To ensure Lab processes are followed by Laboratory Analysist team in accordance with Customer expectations and IMS requirements, e.g. IATF 16949, ISO 17025, etc.
To ensure Laboratory processes are followed by the Laboratory team for On-Time (OT) and Right First Time (RFT) strategy for all tested samples of raw materials, intermediate and final products.
To supervise the standard application and usage by the laboratory team of analytical methods and laboratory equipment to deliver effective and efficient measurement and reporting.
To understand and utilize different systems: LIMS (enter and authorise results), Minitab and Unify (SAP) for Lab samples release process. To administrate local interfaces between these systems and achieve total integration of system.
Create and follow Standard Work Procedures applicable for relevant laboratory activities.
Report the Laboratory KPIs.
Report day-to-day issues to the Laboratory Manager and to liaise, when it is required, with Quality Manager to ensure targets and priorities are being met.
Manage Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) for Laboratory processes.
Co-ordinate and execute MSA plan for laboratory equipment.
Manage the implementation of Continual Improvement (CI) in accordance BM policies e.g. 5S, Kamishibai, Kanban, etc.
Be involved in Integrated Problem Solving (IPS) process for root cause investigation of non-conforming Lab activities.
To collect and provide data for the justification for provision of resource to meet the requirements for increased Lab capacity and capability.
To collect and provide data for the projects for reduction of release time and financial losses costs within Lab processes.
Identifying, receiving training and development to better understand and perform role or future roles.
To take on other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
Willingness to work on shifts.
Degree qualified with technical background preferred;
Min.2 years of experience in manufacturing environment;
Proficiency in use of IT Programs (Excel advance knowledge) and instruments software, e.g. LIMS, Minitab;
Very good understanding of analytical measurement methods and equipment;
Proficiency in ISO/IEC 17025, IATF 16949, and other relevant quality standards;
Willingness to learn and apply new skills (continuous learning);
Coaching and developing others;
Must be fluent in English and Polish language.

With the recent announcement of the new Johnson Matthey Battery Materials Poland manufacturing facility in Konin, Poland which will produce advanced materials for batteries for electric vehicles, we are actively recruiting for Laboratory Team Lead to join our new Quality Department.
To direct and co-ordinate the activities in the QC laboratories on the Battery Material Konin (BMK) site for external and internal samples. To manage the equipment, materials and human resources for samples preparation, analysis and testing. To maintain laboratory systems to ensure that Quality standards and Customer requirements are met in accordance to BM oneQUALITY and Customer specific requirements. To ensure that an effective Physical and Chemical laboratories service is provided to the all departments of the BMK site. To supervise Laboratory day team, to monitor of Laboratories processes to ensure that the targets for Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are being met.
