Your responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities and use cases for leveraging company data to drive business results

  • Develop concrete use cases from data models and build algorithms to apply in POCs, pilots and in operation

  • Build and develop the data science maturity of the organization in terms of team and skills, methods and practices and architectures and tools

  • Collect and analyze data to drive optimization and improvement of manufacturing processes, logistics processes, asset maintenance, customer experience, product development, marketing techniques and business strategies

  • Coordinate with different functional teams and vendors to implement models and monitor outcomes

  • Support the development of architecture landscapes enabling data science in related and supporting areas (integration, infrastructure, data, security, supply chain, etc.)

Our requirements

  • A “can do attitude”; you are a strong communicator with a high level of personal integrity and taking responsibility for driving your own work while at the same time work within the team

  • Collaborative approach and ability to build and maintain a good working relations across the professional spheres and management levels in an organization

  • Preferably, you have experience in IOT or complex time-series data in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, high-tech or related industry

  • Previous experience as a consultant is an advantage

  • A master’s degree or PH.D. in mathematics, engineering, computer science or another quantitative field

  • 10+ years of industry experience in data mining, statistical analysis and machine learning

  • A master’s degree or a Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics, computer science or another quantitative field

  • Are fluent in English, both orally and in writing

  • Have 2+ years of experience as a people manager or team lead

  • Experience with delivering prototypes in development and in production

  • Proficiency in programming languages, such as R, Python, SQL, etc., to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets

  • Vast knowledge and experience with classical and advanced machine learning techniques such as GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, NLP, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawback

Job Description

Are you ready to become part of Advanced Insight Accelerator (AIA) and lead VELUX in accelerating data science and digital innovation initiatives? The Lead Data Scientist will work on delivering towards a strategy of getting unique customer and market insight and achieving operation excellence through data science and artificial intelligence.

The successful candidate will support VELUX in a very ambitious data driven journey impacting all company areas covering e.g., sales, marketing, customer service, supply – are you up for the challenge?

This is the role:

As a team leader for the Data Science team, you will be responsible for managing the AIA Data Science Team, which includes internal and external team members to deliver best in class data science products.

You will be engaged in concrete projects with our business functions advising and driving data science projects. You will build a data science portfolio of opportunities and help business and digital manage and prioritize the portfolio for maximal impact and utilization of resources.
