About the project

Wealth and Private Banking IT is a Technology function that supports Wealth and Private Banking business with the key strategic offshore development centres in India and China.

The IT Portfolio Management function is responsible for partnering with the Business, Transformation, IT Value Stream and Sub Value Stream Leads, CIO, COO and WPB Portfolio Management teams.

The function provides delivery oversight and governance to the portfolio. Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring clear delivery transparency is provided to support key decision making by the business and technology

• Ensuring Capacity is aligned to Value Streams and Sub Value streams to maximise delivery

• Working with Sub Value Stream Leads/Delivery Leads on work prioritization and backlog maintenance to ensure proper work execution in line with delivery roadmap.

• Working with the IT delivery community to instil best practices and ways of working. Monitoring, tracking and remediating best practices/standards to ensure compliance.

• Ensuring processes are reviewed to identify opportunities to streamline and improve governance

• Supporting the implementation and adherence to defined control standards.

Driving the implementation of Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) principles aligned to the organisational drive to move to an Agile way of working

Your responsibilities

  • Ensuring reporting and tracking of key deliverables within the IT community is conducted to agreed timelines and defined standards to ensure clear delivery transparency.
  • Understanding key delivery risks, issues and constraints and being able to articulate in key meetings/forums.
  • Working in conjunction with the portfolio team to ensuring capacity is aligned to Sub Value Stream(s) to maximise delivery.
  • Working with Sub Value Stream Tech Leads/Delivery Leads on work prioritization, backlog maintenance to ensure proper work execution – delivery roadmap accountabilities
  • Work in conjunction with the Lean Portfolio Manager to ensure day to day running of portfolio.
  • Work with the WPB IT PPM team to adopt best practices and ways of working
  • Support the implementation of portfolio governance strategies and requirements (example: preparing regular reporting dashboards, running oversight forums and being able to represent team on the delivery front cross different forums as needed – ManCo, OpCo, etc.)
  • Instill best practice culture whilst supporting IT colleagues with documentation, guidance, decision making and advice
  • Support and contribute towards the evolution and transition of the portfolio management team to a Lean Portfolio Management function.
  • Support new ways of working and the implementation of Agile reporting and governance standards and tooling.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships within the team, across the wider Wealth and Private Banking IT landscape and Business and Transformation areas.

Our requirements

  • Experience within Financial services within IT department or IT consultancy company (Extensive)
  • Previous experience of having managed significant projects or programmes of work or a portfolio of change.
  • Previous experience of working & servicing globally distributed teams and understanding global issues
  • Strong Stakeholder management / Relationship Management [Mandatory]
  • Educated to graduate level (or equivalent level of experience)
  • Ability to build and foster strong relationships with colleagues in IT, Business and Transformation
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to work in a complex, matrix organisation with global virtual teams.
  • Experience of project management processes
  • Highly organised individual
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Change agent and evidence of process improvement in previous roles
  • Strong communicator – able to express ideas via various communication channels
  • Strong Relationship Management
  • Ability to investigate items in detail
  • Ability to step back and look to improve processes and efficiency

Optional

  • Knowledge of HSBC tools and processes
  • Experience of Clarity, JIRA, Rally and Confluence
  • Knowledge of SAFe methodologies and Lean Portfolio Management (LPM)
