    About the Job

    Learning Strategist, a person that we internally call a Technical Enablement Strategist (TES) will drive excellence for our global Field & Technical organization. The TES will partner with field experts in developing innovative educational programs focused on creating Akamai Sales/Technical Presales Experts, with strong foundations in Security technology, Akamai product domains, value selling, and consulting skills. The TES will leverage high standards of project management to provide subject-matter-expertise in Sales & Technical Sales. The ideal candidate is collaborative, self-directed, capable of leading business and technical conversations, and able to assume subject matter expert responsibilities with a strong aptitude to deliver engaging and dynamic enablement and certification programs.

The Global Field & Technical Enablement Team focuses on enabling Akamai’s Sales, Presales, Services teams and our strategic partners, to deliver an excellent customer experience through simple, innovative and impactful learning experiences that drive business results. Our educational offerings on sales skills, product, competition, market landscapes and certifications will help elevate the go-to-market organization to the next generation of value selling and solution experts. 

    Key activities of the team include but are not limited to: 

    • Growing our educational product offering to advance consultative solution skills, domain & product knowledge, industry, competitive expertise & internal processes. 
    • Innovating the learning experience, leveraging flipped classroom, live virtual training, on demand training & certifications
    • Supporting Akamai’s go-to-market organization across some or all portfolios (Security & Enterprise) for onboarding and ongoing enablement programs
    • Delivering Sales Kickoffs, Monthly Field Training, & regional programs
    • Working with 3rd party vendors and internal instructional design team to create quality content
    • Overseeing and maintaining all training repositories
    • Manage reports on training compliance & effectiveness
    • Partnering with Corporate Educational Organizations, Product & Service Enablement, Global Standards and subject matter experts


    • Own and develop the enablement deliverables: curriculum and courseware for our security portfolio
    • Develop and deliver training to the field – live, virtual and on demand formats
    • Navigate and partner across multiple roles and the global organization to gather requirements, develop subject matter expertise, and develop relevant scalable education programs

    Basic Qualifications

    • Minimum 4 years of overall experience in IT industry.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in technical pre-sales/sales engineering, consulting, and/or other customer facing role consulting on, delivering technical products or services. 
    • Education: Bachelor's Degree in relevant field.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Experience with Content Delivery Networks, Web Performance, Security, Media, and/or Enterprise solutions
    • Experience in Internet technologies, standards and protocols, including DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, Web architecture and design
    • Experience with IP networking, switching and routing technologies such as BGP, VLANs, MPLS
    • Experience with Technology Services Learning and Development organizations or projects
    • Experience with training development tools like Articulate, Storyline, Captivate, etc.
    • Self-starter with interpersonal skills, such as time management, team leadership and managing conflicts
    • Experience with adult learning principles, professional development; presentation skills, pitching technical solutions, technical negotiation and consultant skills
    • Ability to deliver highly engaging and collaborative learning
    • Proven track record of strong technical solutions selling and ability to think creatively
