Manager Controls Assurance, Global Risk and Compliance Assurance Services

Your responsibilities

• Understand the underlying Financial Crime, Regulatory Compliance, Resilience Risk, Models, Credit and Market risks mitigated by each assigned control, identify control gaps through operating effectiveness testing and raise issues as appropriate.

• Map processes of assigned controls and identify the main control components within that end-to-end process

• Ensure that assigned control assessments for design and operating effectives are delivered on time, in accordance with the CA assessment plan covering FC, RC and ORR risks.

• Evaluate the root cause analysis for all material issues and remediation plans in places to ensure that they are sufficient and fit-for-purpose and perform Issue Closure Validation check.

• As required, on a rotating basis, support regional CA teams to execute their assurance obligations through remote execution of local reviews and in line with standards set by the CA

• Effectively communicate with local stakeholders during the process of review work and support VP/AVPs as required, including creating customised testing methodology and testing documents.

Controls Assurance (CA) is a division situated within HSBC’s Risk and Compliance Assurance Services (RCAS). We are responsible for determining the effectiveness of the Group’s Financial Crime, Regulatory Compliance, Resilience Risk, Models, Credit and Market risk taxonomies across all businesses, functions and geographies of the Group. The division assesses, on an end-to-end basis, where possible, the effectiveness of prioritised controls embedded in the first line of defence and those operated by the second line on their behalf, and represents an integrated part of the function in discharging its assurance responsibilities.

Role Purpose:

The role holder will be required to complete assigned control assessments, potentially covering all business lines, functions and geographies. Controls Assurance Manager will support the AVP, VP and Head of CA in ensuring that the RCAS assessment plan is executed as assigned, meeting HSBC risk management requirements and regulatory expectations.
