    Operational Excellence (OE) within Global Medicines Development (GMD) is accountable for the delivery of GMD-wide OE activities which include process mapping and metrics to drive end-to-end continuous improvement of medicines development.

    OE drives the delivery of Business Process Excellence and Technology for the GMD organisation, owning and providing industry leading process, technology and services on behalf of GMD and its internal and external Partnerships.


    The Analyst for Metrics and Performance Management is a member of the OE Leadership Team, and is accountable for supporting the Head of Metrics in their responsibility to track, measure and benchmark to drive continuous improvement of GMD.  The Analyst is accountable for identification of the key data and metrics, to enable performance to be tracked across the end-to-end GMD process and proposing visualisations solutions to provide insight.  This is delivered through partnership with the GMD process owners and the PSM Systems and Tools function.

    They handle complex data sets across a variety of sources, conduct high quality analytics to visualise data and create clear, tailored performance reports that provide insight for GMDLT and Functional LTs.   They own the metrics data and drive the development of the technology to visualise data and information from multiple systems, using technology such as Qlikview. The goal is to drive the delivery of OE processes and ensure control by setting measurable metrics to be tracked through the functions and GMDLT.


    As the Analyst for the GMD Metrics, this role has the following responsibilities:

    • Support the design, development, calculations, and reporting of key performance metrics for ODD, E2E projects and any new process improvement projects to help drive the maintenance and continuous improvement of GMD
    • Track, monitor key performance indicators on a monthly basis
    • Propose performance measures using insight of the data
    • Generate high quality tailored reports for senior leadership’s decision making on the status of GMD performance
    • Support the Director in targeted benchmarking research on key E2E processes
    • Owner of the metrics data.  Responsible for lifecycle management of all metrics as information systems change or are updated on a monthly basis
    • Effective and timely communication of information to the Director and the OE team’s analytical needs in support of the OE vision
    • Actively seek and promote creative and innovative ideas to drive performance and bring new solutions to customers
    • Monitor new advances in data analytics and identify opportunities to leverage them to support OE and performance metrics



    • Bachelor’s of Science in an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience
    • Strong technical, analytical and calculations skills with tools such as Excel VBA programming, databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server), QlikView and reports for sr mgt.
    • Proven analytical ability to analyse and interpret complex data sets and communicate them effectively
    • Experience in the development and management of metric systems
    • High level of process performance management knowledge
    • Demonstrated skills to deliver to timely, high quality reports
    • Experience in working successfully and collaboratively with external partners delivering mutual benefit
    • Demonstrated written and verbal communication and influencing skills, collaboration, problem solving, presentation, conflict management and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated Conceptual Thinking in development of a new metrics
    • Ability to set and manage priorities, resources, performance targets and project initiatives in a regional environment.


    • Experience of utilizing standard process improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean Six Sigma) to identify root causes of process issues and identify areas of process improvement
    • Experience and demonstrated success with Change Enablement through metrics
    • Demonstrated success in Influencing in a large matrix environment, Business Awareness/Acumen, Management reporting, Project Management skills
