About the project

As part of Hapag-Lloyds IT Team, you are the People Lead to a team of 12 colleagues located in the Hapag-Lloyd Knowledge Center in Gdansk. The teams in Gdansk and Hamburg are working as One-IT-team spread over two locations supporting Hapag-Lloyd colleagues around the globe.

The team is working together with the colleagues of the other SAP teams, in the maintenance and developing of our SAP system.

Besides your role as a People Lead, you will work in your field of expertise that can be: FI, CO, MM, development, release management or test management.

The SAP Teams in Hamburg and Gdansk are currently considerably ramping up based on our mission to migrate from SAP ECC 6.8 system to SAP S/4HANA soon.

Your responsibilities

  • Managing a team of twelve SAP IT professionals, located in Gdansk

  • Supporting the personal and professional development of the team

  • Collecting feedback, together with the functional manager to have regular review meetings

  • Preparing career development, promotions, and salary

  • Administrative duties (including vacations and travel approvals)

  • Supporting the Director of the department with the recruitment of further positions

  • Managing developments in our SAP ECC system with the colleagues in Hamburg and Gdansk

  • Creating and implementing new functions, for process consulting as well as for the maintenance and support of the processes in SAP

  • Developing and implementing the future SAP solution of Hapag-Lloyd in your area of expertise (in the upcoming SAP S/4Hana project)

  • Acting as an innovator within the team and driving new processes forward operationally, as well as using and implementing new technologies

  • Working together with colleagues from other teams and thinking out of the box is part of your daily business

  • Evolving the way of working together with the business using Agile methods

Our requirements

  • A collaborative and empathic mindset to enable our business colleagues through our solutions - experience in leading an IT team of SAP experts would be preferred

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in an international environment

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English

  • Understanding of business processes, in the areas of FI, CO, MM, development, release management or test management

  • Experience in managing and leading teams in an international organization

  • Passionate about people matters and helping others to improve and excel

  • Experience in recruiting, ideally within a SAP team

  • Coaching mentality and experience in mediation

  • Relevant experience in the development, customizing and implementation of complex SAP landscapes and in the optimization of business and IT processes

  • Experience in Agile working methods

  • Understanding of HL IT Products – would be nice to have

  • Relevant previous experience in the areas of logistics or transportation - would be an asset

  • Understanding of container shipping business is an advantage
